Litigation Attorney
Company Name: Hickey Law Firm, P.A.
Sector: Other
Job Type: Full-Time

About Hickey Law Firm:

We are a small group of super dedicated, hardworking trial lawyers. We represent people who have suffered life changing injuries.

Hybrid remote working environment. Our offices are on Brickell Ave in Miami. We are still working remotely. Attendance in Miami will not be required daily for lawyers at this time. Attorneys can work remotely except when we need to meet in the office to prepare for trial or meet a client(s). Attorneys of course will be required to go to court and travel for depositions, hearings, mediations, etc.

The firm is led by John H. (Jack) Hickey. Jack is a frequent lecturer and author of articles on trial technique, litigation in general and maritime law. He is also Board Certified by The Florida Bar in two areas, Civil Trial and Admiralty and Maritime.

The verdicts and settlements which Jack has achieved total more than $100 Million. Many of those verdicts and settlements have been record-breaking for the injuries involved. Last year, we received an arbitration award for a Celebrity Cruise Line seaman. The total of this award with interest was $10.6 Million. Recently, Jack got a verdict of $4.5M for the pain and suffering only of an 89-year-old woman for the 4 years she lived after the car crash which caused her injuries. (The Plaintiff died before the trial of causes unrelated to the car crash). That verdict of pain and suffering of $1Million per year was affirmed on appeal.

How? Intense, aggressive lawyering. Good lawyering. Knowing the rules and law and getting into the details and prosecuting the case.

About You:

Assertive, detail-oriented, and hardworking. Are you also competitive and like to win? Do you want to be the best trial lawyer you can be and learn the right way from the best? If you want a challenge that can be rewarding in many ways, this may be the firm for you.

Live in Miami-Dade County, Broward County, or Palm Beach County. But you must be willing to commute to Miami and travel in general for hearings, trials, depositions, mediations, and occasional in person meetings in the office.

We are seeking a highly motivated Associate Attorney with 3-5 years of experience in litigation. Candidates must have the attributes mentioned above. And we like to see that you graduated with honors from college or law school and have demonstrated excellent research, writing and oral argument skills.

We offer:

Great base salary.

Bonus based on your performance and the performance of the cases assigned to you.

Benefits package for lawyers are $12,686 to $23,524/year (depending on pension plan contributions and bar dues which depend on number of years out of school and number of years with the firm and earnings).

5 Common Career Paths For a Housing Counselor

Generally, an attorney's responsibility is to advise the client with an ongoing lawsuit on the legal procedures and provide strategies to resolve the case as early as possible. An attorney compiles necessary documents or any records for appeal and client's defense. Attorneys must acquire strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills to mediate disputes and settle pending litigation for the client's best interest. In some cases, an attorney's procedure depends on any evidence and research presented during the trial period. An attorney is expected to present clients on legal proceedings, seeking justice and justifying the law.

Contract Attorney

A contract attorney is responsible for handling their clients' legal issues and settling cases by researching, analyzing, and collecting essential files that would support the clients' claims. Contract attorneys usually work for private clients without being permanently employed in a law firm or government agency. Contract attorneys represent clients at court, assist with law proceedings, and advise clients for the necessary legal procedures. A contract attorney must have excellent communication and critical-thinking skills to manage client legal matters and expertise in traditional disciplines and processes.

Case Manager

A case manager is responsible for giving advice, handling plans for the client's recovery, and connecting with other human service professionals to ask for further options and recommendations for the client's concerns. Case managers should have excellent communication and listening skills to evaluate the client's needs, ensuring that they will have the utmost care and safety through efficient advocacy. A case manager should be able to provide a reliable support system for the client and monitor progress to achieve wellness and guarantee satisfaction.

General Counsel

A general counsel, also called a chief legal officer, is the chief lawyer in the legal department of an organization. The counsel represents an enterprise for any pending legal matters. They work proactively to lessen possible problems associated with legalities and potential risks. They have to monitor practices and the people within the law firm for misconduct. They also perform dominant roles in regulation, ethics, public affairs, and legislation. It is common for them to serve as the public spokesperson of the company during the publicity of legal matters.

Office Manager

Office managers oversee the entire workplace. They maintain office processes and services to ensure that everything is running well. They manage office supplies by managing inventory and procurement procedures. They also device filing systems, create needed and relevant office policies, and ensure that all the policies are being followed. As a way to make sure that the office is in top shape, office managers supervise most of the logistical aspects inside the office. They also provide support to both management teams and the rest of the employees. They often act as the bridge between the two and would sometimes even assist in the training of new employees.
