Howard Payne University, a Christian liberal arts university located in Brownwood, Texas, was originally founded in 1889 by the Pecan Valley Baptist Association. Howard Payne University offers associate's and bachelor's degrees, which are available both in the traditional on-campus environment and online. Special programs for students needing academic assistance in subjects such as math and reading are available, as are honors programs for students who excel and are looking for more. Single-sex residence halls are available on campus, and all students are required to live on campus for at least four semesters. Each residence hall includes Wi-Fi internet access and computer labs available to students 24/7. Upperclassmen are eligible to apply for residency in one of the on-campus apartments. In addition to financial aid possibilities through FAFSA, students who exceed required SAT or ACT scores will automatically receive an academic scholarship.
