He graduated from Georgia Southwestern in 1973 with a Bachelor's degree in Marketing and is a member of the Sigma Chi Fraternity. He is Chairman of the Board of Directors of Citizens Bank of the South and Chairman of the Board of Brentwood School. Cliff is married to Diane Callaway Sheppard and has two sons, Trey and Mitch. He is also a board member for the Georgia Department of Community Affairs, and a member of First Baptist church of Sandersville.
