The history of Shockey Precast began in 1896, when a master carpenter named Howard Shockey opened a wagon repair business in Winchester, Virginia.
In 1947, the growing company became known as Howard Shockey & Sons, Inc.
The diversified construction organization also provides real estate development with build-to-suit capabilities through Shockey Properties, which was established in 1970.
In early 2018, Shockey Precast was acquired by Metromont Corporation and now operates as a Metromont company.
In 2019, General Contractors magazine named Shockey the top K-12 school builder and top university contractor in Virginia.
In 2021, ENR MidAtlantic magazine ranked the company among the top 400 contractors in the United States.
