Grounds Maintenance, Motor Equipment Operator Light HV-CS-9695 RESIDENCY REQUIREMENTS: Candidates must have been legal residents of New York State for at least FOUR months prior to assignment. Pursuant to subdivision 4a of Sec. 23 of the Civil Service Law, preference may be given to successful candidates who have been legal residents of the municipality to which the appointment is to be made for at least FOUR months. Preference will be given to Rensselaer County Residents. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: One-year experience in the operation of some types of automotive equipment (or) any equivalent combination of training and experience. Must possess a NYS Driver's License at time of appointment. Ability to lift a minimum of 50lbs is required. The preferred candidate will also possess a High School Diploma. DUTIES AND/OR RESPONSIBILITIES: The Motor Equipment Operator (Light) performs work under the supervisor who assigns tasks and inspects the work in process and upon completion. The Motor Equipment Operator (Light) reports to the Grounds Supervisor II and performs the following duties: • Operates a truck or other vehicle in connection with the hauling of material for road construction & repair and to transport workmen, tools and other equipment. • Operates an ice resurfacing machine in ice rink or related snow removal equipment. • Performs minor maintenance on the ice resurfacing machine and other automotive equipment. Also makes repairs as necessary to ice rink equipment and performs manual labor in connection with the upkeep of the ice rink. • On assignment, operates a backhoe, lawn mowers, Bobcat and variety of automotive equipment. • Services assigned vehicle and maintains it in clean condition. • Performs manual labor, such as loading and unloading trucks, digging ditches, shoveling snow, re-seeding, mulching, planting, hand digging for utilities etc. • May supervise laborers, as specified tasks require. • Performs other duties as assigned. This position is full-time, 40-hour work week with an hourly rate of $19.29.
