As a CNC Set-Up Mills Operator, you will be responsible for setting up CNC milling machines, including loading tooling and dies, performing machine calibration, running production jobs to specification, inspecting parts for quality using precision tools, troubleshooting and resolving machine issues, and ensuring compliance with safety and operational standards. Responsibilities of the CNC Set Up-Mills Operator:
Perform machine setup and calibration for various CNC machines using setup sheets.
Operate multiple CNC machines to produce parts, ensuring tight tolerances and product quality.
Troubleshoot and optimize machine performance to minimize downtime and enhance efficiency.
Inspect parts during production using precision tools like micrometers and calipers to meet specifications.
Document production activities, including machine performance and material usage, in ERP systems.
Train new hires, support team members in CNC processes, and collaborate with maintenance teams for routine machine upkeep.
CNC Set Up-Mills Operator Requirements and Qualifications:
Must be 18 years or older.
High School Diploma/GED equivalent or significant relevant work experience.
1-3 years of experience operating single-axis and multi-axis CNC machinery (Mazaks, Doosans, INDEX, Nakamuras).
Proficiency with measuring instruments (micrometers, calipers, gages).
Ability to use hand tools (drills, screwdrivers, impacts) and follow safety protocols.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, part schematics, and follow written/verbal instructions.

GENERAL JOB SUMMARY:
To perform machining tasks as directed by their supervisor utilizing the CNC Vertical Milling Center (main responsibility), Bridgeport Mill, Engine Lathe and CNC Lathe as well as other Machine Shop support equipment (i.e. grinder, belt sander, cold saw, etc.).
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
The duties and responsibilities listed below apply to all levels of CNC Machinists. Each level of CNC Machinist has additional duties and responsibilities listed.
Updates set-up and tooling sheets as required, maintaining the VMC logbook for shift turnover, documenting travelers and Discrepant Materials Report (DMR).
Supports and exhibits the focus of zero defects as well as right-the-first-time attitude.
Inspects work utilizing basic inspection equipment (calipers, micrometers, depth gage, etc.).
Provides suggestions or advice to maximize the efficiency of Machine Shop.
Maintains a clean work area and ensures strict adherence to the 5S Standards.
Accurately adjusts machine settings to complete tasks according to specifications.
Uses various machine shop support equipment including Saws, Belt Sanders, Grinders, Overhead Cranes and Drill Press.
Follows FOD (foreign object prevention) practices.
Complies with established safety directives.
Complies with established QMS procedures.
Other duties may be assigned.
CNC Machinist I:
Works under direct supervision.
CNC Machinist II:
Works under general supervision.
Oversees operators and provides setup support.
Responsible for generating process improvements.
CNC Machinist III:
Works very independently under minimal supervision.
Responsible for training lower-level machinists.
Responsible for generating process improvements.
Responsible for machining production "MS" Tooling.

Ability to save/move (familiarity with PC a must) various programs on an "as needed" basis.
Knowledge of the HAAS controllers a plus.
Ability to read and interpret drawings.
Must be able to demonstrate accurate basic math skills.
Ability to comprehend geometric dimensioning and tolerancing.
CNC Machinist II:
Must be able to interpret and work from industry specifications.
Ability to edit and save g-code
Ability to calculate feeds and speeds
Ability to mentor level I CNC Machinists
CNC Machinist III:
Ability to train and mentor level I and II CNC Machinists.
Must understand the fundamentals of programming and design to communicate with ME's and Programmers
Ability to machine various metals such as Aluminum, Stainless Steel, Carbon Steel, Brass and Inconel.

Program from print using Mazatrol by entering instructions, including zero and reference points; setting tool registers, offsets, compensation, and conditional switches.

Set up and operate multi-axis CNC lathes with live tooling and machines using Mazatrol conversational programming.
Serve as direct support to the Lathe Supervisor and assist CNC machinists with programs and setups.

Produce high-quality parts from technical drawings with minimal supervision.
