Civil Engineer - Transportation
Role Description: Huitt-Zollars, Inc has a full-time opportunity for a Civil Engineer - Transportation for our El Paso office with at least 4-10 years' experience and a registered Professional Engineer in the state of Texas. The successful candidate will have experience in traffic engineering, roadway design, drainage studies/design, traffic control, permitting, utility relocations, right-of-way engineering, construction document preparation, and post design construction services. Traffic Engineering experience a plus. The candidate will work in a team environment on transportation, transit, and public works projects primarily in El Paso with opportunities to work on projects for other offices.

Duties:
Serve as Civil Engineer in the development of roadway feasibility and planning studies, geometric design, drainage studies and designs, construction plans, specifications
Experience in leading a complex civil transportation project including roadway geometric design, drainage design, signage and pavement markings, pedestrian and bicycle facilities, traffic signals, traffic control plans and construction sequencing
Experience with a TxDOT projects a plus
Experience in performing traffic impact analysis, safety analysis, traffic signal design, Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) planning studies, ITS Design, ITS standard sheet and specification
Coordinate with EITs, designers and drafters
Review shop drawings, perform field observations, and facilitate construction management/administration activities
Support project proposals, scopes, budgets, and manage execution and tracking of projects
Complete projects within client specifications, budgets and schedules
Assist in preparation of project reports including feasibility studies, implementation plans, engineering summary reports, and drainage impact analyses
Coordinate online meetings, preparation of meeting agendas, and distribution of meeting
Key Responsibilities:
Understands, follows, and enforces Huitt-Zollars' business process.
Productively collaborates with PMs and encourages teams to achieve success and camaraderie amongst each other.
Understands and follows HZ QMS and Quality initiatives. Assists PM on ensuring that quality control measures are being adhered to on projects and daily operations.
Understands duties and responsibilities, possesses necessary job knowledge and technical skills, maintains job knowledge current.
Assist with appropriate administrative and project support tasks supporting the needs of the PM on assigned project tasks.
Contributes to successful delivery and performance of projects.
Complete assignments on-time, within budget, and with highest level of quality.
Routinely proposes and produces more effective ways to accomplish tasks.
Assists PM as needed on work planning. Prepares and follows comprehensive Project Framework Instructions and proper work planning for a project. Assists PM on ensuring proper staff is assigned and utilized on their projects.
Assists PMs as needed on reviewing project reports and performance metrics to track project progress and budget. Assists PM in leading successful projects (profit, on-schedule, quality, satisfied client).
Qualifications:
BS Degree in Civil Engineering
Must be a licensed PE in Texas
Minimum of 4 -10 years of transportation engineering design experience
Proficient in MicroStation, Geopak, OpenRoads, AutoCAD Civil 3D, Synchro, VISSIM, Highway Capacity Software (HCS) and TransCAD Modeling software
Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Project and PowerPoint
Ability to interact with clients and multi-discipline team members
Excellent organizational, verbal, and written communication skills
