Responsibility
The Human Resources Generalist assists the Human Resources Manager in the compilation and maintenance of various records and reports related to the personnel function. Administers daily personnel systems such as benefits and other duties as directed by the department manager. Performs and directs a variety of personnel activities with respect to both salaried and hourly employees. Maintains relations with all employees, answers questions from all levels, helping them to develop their abilities to solve problems by promoting, explaining and supporting plant policies while improving employee interest, loyalty and goodwill.

Process
Assists in recruiting, screening, interviewing and performing background checks and referring qualified hourly and salaried applicants to appropriate management personnel to maintain a quality work force geared to our progressive employment philosophy.Assists the Human Resources Manager in planning, organizing, and presenting new employees orientation programs designed to project the plant's positive employment philosophy. Works with the Human Resources Manager to promote employee involvement throughout the plant.Assists the Human Resources Department on updating computerized personnel databases, in compliance with federal, state and local laws; in the compliance and maintenance of accurate service records for active employees; in the maintenance of records for inactive employees; and, in the compilation and maintenance of appropriate affirmative action reports and all other reports as required.Assists in developing and writing policies and procedures affecting both hourly and salaried employees, i.e., Employee Handbook, Safety Program, etc.Assists in making job offers to all salary and hourly candidates.Assists in the orientation of new hourly and salaried employees to the plant policies, procedures, regulations, safety rules, and fringe benefits including medical insurance and pension systems to assure that they understand conditions and benefits of employment.

As an HR Generalist, you will partner with HR Leaders supporting the Supply Chain teams. You will have exposure and visibility from key HR leaders at JCPenney, including the Director of Supply Chain HR. The HR Specialist will support Supply Chain Centers in Columbus, OH. This role will report to the Regional Sr HR Manager and assist with the development and implementation of key strategies related to organizational effectiveness.
Primary Responsibilities:


Partner with HR Leaders on key programs such as Leadership Development & Training, Organizational Development, Change Management, Succession Planning, HR Analytics/Reports and Associate Engagement. Process associate related changes relative to pay, position, and people management. Help support the HR Leaders with associate relations issues and investigations Interview internal and external candidates and make recommendations on hire selections. Manage backfill requests and headcount tracking for Sourcing, Logistics, Transportation, and others as needed. Conduct exit interviews, analyze feedback, and provide recommendations on necessary actions if applicable. Prepare and facilitate performance calibration meetings, New Leaders Assimilations, and Talent Reviews. Develop key HR metrics (turnover, promotions, etc.) and recommend actions based on trends. Analyze associate compensation to prepare internal and external offers. Drive process improvement by leading departmental and cross-departmental meetings. Create presentations, build and manage budget spreadsheets, and assist with organizational charts/data.
Core Competencies & Accomplishments:


Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Business, Psychology or related field. 0-3 years' experience in Human Resources as an intern, coordinator, or specialist. What you'll need to be successful in this role:


Bachelor's degree, equivalent degree in a field of study related to the job, or equivalent work experience required 3-5 years of human resources experience, preferably in a multi-unit environment. Retail / Distribution Center experience is a plus and having a background in Recruiting, Talent Acquisition, High Volume Recruiting environment. Ensures completion of required pre-employment testing: MVR, drug test, background verifications, and new hire paperwork. Assist with new hire orientations. Proficient with MS Office Products: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Experience working with applicant tracking system (PeopleSoft), Kronos, Talentquest a plus (not a deal-breaker if you don't have this). Knowledge and understanding of Federal, State and Local legislation regarding personnel and labor laws. Ability to interact effectively with employees at all levels of the organization and ability to partner with managers and employees to positively impact business results. Adaptable, resourceful and able to work in fast moving environment. Excellent verbal and written communication skills and strong attention to details. Demonstrated accountability and responsibility for independent judgment and successful outcomes. Entirely customer-centric (internal/external) and able to develop and sustain effective relationships with key people both inside and outside of operation business. PeopleSoft and Kronos experience preferred.
