Incumbents in this classification will perform a variety of advanced and complex analytical assignments, which require extensive technical knowledge, initiative, discretion, and judgment. The incumbent will assist with negotiations of memoranda of understanding with employee organizations; costing of labor contracts; coordinating labor relations issues; serve as a professional advisor on the interpretation and application of memoranda of understanding, meet and confer obligations and City policy as it relates to labor relations. The ideal candidate should possess a strong background in labor relations principles and practices including grievance procedures, dispute resolution and collective bargaining as well as strong writing skills. May supervise and provide lead direction to staff. This is an unclassified position in which the incumbent serves at the will of the Department Director.
