The Test Equipment Engineering Technician III independently supports and leads the development, build, integration, deployment, and sustainment of complex electro-mechanical test equipment and tooling for advanced unmanned systems supporting defense and commercial applications. The role partners closely with engineering teams, provides technical leadership in fabrication and rapid prototyping, and contributes to design improvement, validation, and process optimization efforts. The task for SCADA is to design Control Systems and monitor data to logically manage the successful production of goods. In this case, renewable energy control applications, managing and supervising the controls and machinery used in the production, storage, and transmission of solar energy, ensuring the reliability and availability of LPL Solar's EPC utility grade projects by overseeing and troubleshooting the SCADA control systems and energy control applications on our projects. Project sizes range from 50-300+ MW state-of-the-art utility grade solar facilities. Under the direction of the SCADA and Control Systems Manager, a SCADA and Control Systems Technician analyzes, plans, inspects, and participates in highly skilled work within the renewables energy sector. More specifically, spreadsheet and reporting software, Human Machine Interface (HMI), automated control systems, server systems, meteorological systems, field telemetry communications systems, energy information networks, LAN/WAN networks, fiber optic networks, and the latest technology of measurement, data acquisition, and control thereof. SCADA is an acronym for Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition. The task for SCADA is to design Control Systems and monitor data to logically manage the successful production of goods. In this case, renewable energy control applications, managing and supervising the controls and machinery used in the production, storage, and transmission of solar energy, ensuring the reliability and availability of LPL Solar's EPC utility grade projects by overseeing and troubleshooting the SCADA control systems and energy control applications on our projects. Operational Technology (OT) Engineering Intern Division: Business Information Technology Services (BITS) Summary Description: The Operational Technology (OT) Engineering Intern will support the Control Systems team within BITS. This role assists in maintaining and enhancing NCEC's OT infrastructure. Key responsibilities include troubleshooting, supporting system enhancements, performing data analysis, and assisting with integration tasks such as commissioning new Distributed Energy Resource (DER) or Demand Response (DR) resources into the Distributed Energy Resource Management System (DERMS), Pi Historian, Energy Management System (EMS), and System Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems. Academic and Trade Qualifications: Currently pursuing a degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or another analytically intensive field. Coursework or interest in power systems, energy technologies, or data analytics is preferred. Work Experience: Prior experience is not required, but exposure to the power/energy industry, engineering projects, or IT systems is a plus. Familiarity with SCADA, DER/DR, or related technologies is desirable but not mandatory. Responsibilities: Assist in developing and maintaining NCEC's OT systems, including design, database structure, integrations, and functionality. Provide support for OT applications to ensure system uptime and performance. Help with system upgrades, including testing new functionality and user interface improvements. Perform basic data analysis and reporting tasks to support operational decisions. Collaborate with team members on integration projects and documentation. Job Knowledge: Interest in the power/energy industry and emerging technologies. Basic understanding of communication technologies, databases, and IT concepts is helpful. Familiarity with Microsoft 365 tools. Willingness to learn tools such as SQL, Python, and Databricks. Abilities and Skills: Strong desire to learn and grow within the energy sector. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Review project instructions, drawings, and blueprints to understand test specifications, procedures, objectives, and technical requirements. Identify technical issues and contribute to potential solutions, including part redesign, material or component substitution, and modification of assemblies or subassemblies. Prepare detailed sketches or drawings for drafting completion or to support fabrication requests through machine, sheet metal, or wood shops. Design, fabricate, assemble, and modify mechanical components or assemblies for industrial equipment, machinery, power equipment, servo systems, machine tools, and measuring instruments. Set up and conduct tests on components and complete units under operational conditions to evaluate performance, validate design changes, and support development, standardization, and quality control efforts. Analyze test data and results in comparison to design specifications and test objectives, making necessary equipment adjustments to meet requirements. Document test procedures, results, data (numerical and graphical), and provide recommendations for improvements to products, equipment, or testing methods. Education/ Skills/ Experience: High school diploma and 0 - 2 years of experience in the field or in a related area, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Training Requirements: Language Skills Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
