Huntington University seeks part-time bus drivers for a 35 passenger bus. The Bus Driver is responsible for transporting students, staff, coaches, and passengers safely to and from their destination in the established times and in all types of weather and road conditions, observing legal, safe, and defensive driving practices.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Must have a strong personal faith in Jesus Christ, a desire to serve others and a commitment to being a faithful steward of university resources
Must have a “clean” driving record
Have sufficient physical and mental abilities to operate a school bus/van in a safe manner
Must be narcotic drug and alcohol free
Professional driving experience preferred
This is a part-time, on call position
Must possess a valid commercial driver's with passenger endorsement

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Bus/Van
Maintain vehicle by conducting safety inspection, inspect the interior and exterior and the engine prior to use
Maintain order among passengers and report any behavioral issues to the appropriate personnel, assure passengers understand bus rules of safety
Assist students, staff, coaches, and passengers in and out of vehicle as needed
Assist students, staff, coaches, and passengers with loading and unloading equipment as needed
Administrative
Collaborate with coaching and administrative staff to establish transportation schedule
Maintain and update route sheets and schedules, manifesto along with emergency contact information
Assist with other projects and perform other duties as assigned by the VP of Business & Finance Treasurer
Physical Requirements of the Position:
Employee is regularly required to focus, see, speak, and hear and to have dexterity of the hands and fingers
Must be able to sit for extended periods of time while driving
Other duties may require bending, kneeling, twisting, and reaching overhead, above shoulders and horizontally
May be required to lift, carry, and/or push moderately heavy persons in effort to evacuate the bus/van in case of emergency
Shall be required to meet all regulatory standards as directed by the State of Indiana as a driver
