Under the supervision and collaboration of a physician hospitalist, the nurse practitioner provides comprehensive direct patient care and practice to include obtaining comprehensive patient histories, performing complete physical examinations, order and performing diagnostic testing and screening, diagnosing illness, prescribing both pharmacological and other treatments for patients, and providing health maintenance and promotion inventions such as patient and family education and counseling. Also, the NP assumes accountability for indirect care responsibilities, which support patient care including staff and student education, clinical research, program development, and quality improvement.
Qualifications
* Graduate of an approved school of nursing.
* Must have a current registerednurse license in the State of Alabama, with designation: CRNP, current ACLS provider.
* Graduate of an approved program for Nurse Practitioners
* Completion of a neonatal nurse practitioner certificate (NNP)
* Certified to render care to patients in pediatric/newborn age group.
Previous experience in newborn nursery or neonatal unit desired.

Essential Tasks and Responsibilities
Improves the overall quality and completeness of clinical documentation by performing admission / continued stay reviews using the Compliant Documentation Program Management (CDMP) guidelines.
Facilitates modifications to clinical documentation to ensure that appropriate severity of the patient is documented and to ensure appropriate reimbursement is received for the level of service rendered to all patients with a DRG based payer (Medicare, Blue Cross and others as determined by CDI program goals)
Conducts on-going follow-up reviews to ensure points of clarification have been recorded in the patient's medical record using department standard work to set workflow priority and scheduling..
Works with Physicians concurrently, during the patient's stay, to educate and receive specific documentation pertinent to all requirements in question.
Refers questionable quality, patient safety indicators, and utilization concerns to CDI Director, nursing and case management as indicated
Writes queries to provide professional clinical inquiry about missing documentation (clinical indicators, diagnoses, or more descriptive) for conversion to codable terms following compliant, non leading format.
Monitors the documentation against "core measure" quality indicators and addresses non-compliance documentation with Physicians and other appropriate staff.
Interacts on a regular basis with Physician, nursing and case managers to ensure continuity of documentation.
Works collaboratively with the coding staff to assign the "working" DRG to contribute for IDT Rounds.
Processes all discharges by updating the DRG worksheet to reflect changes in patient status, procedures and/or treatments and concurs with the attending Physician to finalize diagnoses.
Maintains a leadership role to ensure specific and compliant documentation is achieved recognizing its use in quality measures and reporting medical center and Physician outcomes.
Educates various customer audiences on clinical documentation opportunities, coding, reimbursement and performance methodologies.
Ensures documentation is meeting "medical necessity" for specific level of care and that services provided to the patient has a reasonably beneficial effect; refers cases to Utilization Review as indicated.
Demonstrates a working knowledge of the DRG system and coding guidelines to facilitate recovery of appropriate payments for services rendered.
Utilizes results of DRG analysis to have on-going dialogue with Physicians, nurses, coders, and case managers, to improve overall knowledge and performance.
Participates in efforts to contain cost and/or generate revenue.
Submits written ideas for reducing cost or adding revenue.
Organizes and performs work effectively and efficiently by achieving daily reviews as assigned.
Maintains and adjusts schedules to meet team performance and is willing to change workload or assignments as indicated.
Meets assigned deadlines and departmental productivity standards.
Assists with special projects as needed and all other duties as assigned.
Maintains requirements in Remote Agreement in order to retain work from home opportunity.
Work collaboratively with CDI team members to complete daily work of the team.

POSITION SUMMARY
The registerednurse is responsible for assessing, evaluating, and delegating the delivery of skilled patient care. The focus of assessment and intervention based on a presenting chief complaint and acuity is a specialized approach unique to the emergency nurse. ED nurses work in a stressful, fast-paced, time constrained environment where they integrate evidence-based knowledge, make rapid assessments, make critical decisions, and preform life-saving interventions, all while using prioritization and multitasking. ED nurses require a skill set that is beyond that of a traditional nurse. This skill set is specific to our environment and includes the care of a wide variety of patients. The ED nurse should be competent in caring for patients across the age continuum and requires fluid and continuous process of education, skill refinement, knowledge procurement, and risk recognition. The ED nurse has continuous interaction with physicians, patients, family members, other care areas, and management. The ED nurse is held to the ANA code of ethics and is held accountable for the improvement of patient care.

POSITION SUMMARY
The CVOR Perioperative Nurse is a full performance level professional nurse position which provides direct and indirect perioperative patient and family centered care for patients as a member of the cardio-vascular surgical team by assuming the role of either the Circulator Nurse or the 2nd Scrub/Assist Nurse.
The incumbent prepares the operating room prior to any surgery or procedure, anticipates and responds to the needs of the surgical team during an operation/procedure, and incorporates differences into the provisions of care to promote safe and therapeutic care for the patient in a holistic and systematic way. Integrates knowledge, skills, and experiences to meet the needs of the patients and surgical team throughout the operation/procedure. Utilizes standards, guidelines, protocols, and pathways for care delivery. Incorporates data and information to continuously improve care and practice to enhance outcomes. Ensures improvements in practice settings by assuming responsibility for self-development.
The CVOR Perioperative Nurse is responsible for providing surgical patient care by assessing, planning, and implementing the nursing care patients receive before, during, and after surgery. These activities include creating and maintaining a sterile and safe surgical environment throughout the surgical care continuum. Work is performed independently with general supervision of a Nursing Supervisor.
Required emergency call coverage and response time dictated by EAMC policy.

POSITION SUMMARY
Our OB Observation Unit consists of 8 triage/antepartum rooms. The OB OBS nurses complete a comprehensive assessment of women during the antepartum period to women experiencing complications of pregnancy including preterm labor, premature rupture of membranes, pregnancy-induced hypertension, diabetes, bleeding and infection. They are also responsible for patient triage, patient education, and assisting physicians in the assessment of patient needs and treatment plan(s).

The following statements reflect the general duties considered necessary to describe the principal functions of the job as identified and shall not be considered as a detailed description of all the work requirements, which may be inherent in the position.
Under the supervision and collaboration of a physician hospitalist, the nurse practitioner provides comprehensive direct patient care and practice include obtaining comprehensive patient histories, performing complete physical examinations, order and performing diagnostic testing and screening, diagnosing illness, prescribing both pharmacological and other treatments for patients, and providing health maintenance and promotion inventions such as patient and family education and counseling.
Providing continuous care and coverage for hospitalized patients during the night, including admissions, discharges, and addressing any emergent needs.
This will be a night position (7p-7a) and will be 7 nights on and 7 nights off.
Qualifications
* Graduate of an approved school of nursing.
* Must have a current registerednurse license in the State of Alabama, with designation: CRNP, current ACLS provider.
* Graduate of an approved program for Nurse Practitioners
Certified to render care to patients in adult age groups.
