Husson University company history timeline

1898

Founded in 1898, Husson was originally named Shaw School of Business and was located on the second floor of a building in downtown Bangor.

Since 1898, Husson has been educating Maine's leaders.

1953

In 1953 the Maine Legislature authorized the school, now known as Husson College, to grant Bachelor of Science degrees.

1981

In 1981, the College established the Husson College/Eastern Maine Medical Center Baccalaureate School of Nursing.

1996

In 1996 she ran for the Senate seat held by Cohen, who was stepping down to become secretary of defense.

1997

In 1997, Husson acquired the New England School of Communications, which was separately accredited and operated semi-autonomously with control over its own tuition, hiring, admissions, and graduation requirements.

2012

There are four residence halls: Hart Hall, Bell Hall, Carlisle Hall, and the Living & Learning Center, a LEED Silver targeted student residence and academic building opening in the fall of 2012.

2014

Later, in 2014, NESCOM merged with Husson University.

2020

Lonely Planet lists Maine as a Best in Travel - Top Region for 2020.
