Hutchinson Health Care company history timeline

1927

The new hospital was opened prematurely on December 8, 1927 when a dynamite blast destroyed a half-block of businesses and people were injured from the flames.

1937

Orvis Dean Box was the first baby to be born in the new hospital on October 26, 1937.

1941

In 1941, there was a housing shortage in Borger, so in February of that year, the nurses' home adjacent to the hospital was added at a cost of $17,900.

1958

In 1958, the hospital, which served over 50,000 county residents, boasted 25 maternity beds, 40 surgery beds, and 25 miscellaneous beds.

1959

The idea of building a clinic for a group of doctors in downtown Hutchinson was a novel idea in 1959.

1961

In 1961, these seven physicians and 25 employees occupied the first Clinic facility located at 12th and Main.

1975

In 1975, the merger was one of the first of its kind in the nation.

1978

The Clinic moved in 1978 to its current location at 2101 North Waldron.

1979

Hutchinson Regional Medical Foundation – Since 1979, the Foundation has solicited and managed private donations that support patient care throughout HRHS.

1984

Diana Cline of Borger won the contest in May 1984 with the name, Golden Plains Community Hospital.

1989

The hospital officially opened its doors for business on November 13, 1989.

1995

A new addition was built which opened in September of 1995.

1996

In 1996, Hutchinson County Hospital District took over the operation of the Women's and Children's Clinic, which had previously been a project of the Texas Department of Health.

1997

In 1997, the District built the Fritch Medical Clinic in the the nearby city of Fritch, Texas.

1999

In the summer of 1999, the Clinic opened a campus building housing general surgery, allergy and neurology services.

2000

Offering comprehensive services in a wide range of medical specialties, construction began again to add another 54,000 square feet, which was completed in December of 2000.

The old nurses' residence was torn down in 2000 and a new 6,000 square foot building, Golden Plains Medical Plaza at 202 S. McGee, was constructed.

2002

A 14,000 square foot Ambulatory Surgery Center opened in April 2002.

2006

In March 2006, a 38,000 square foot medical facility opened, which houses our physical therapy and medical fitness center, along with orthopaedics, sports medicine, spine surgery, physiatry, dermatology, gastroenterology and urology.

2007

The Dialysis Center of Hutchinson opened in August of 2007.

In October of 2007, Critical Access Healthcare, LLC, acquired ownership of Golden plains Community Hospital.

2011

On May 2, 2011 the former Medical Center became the 1100 North Main Building of the Hutchinson Clinic.

On October 24, 2011, a new state of the art hospital was opened at the hospital's current location, 100 Medical Drive in Borger.

2013

In May 2013, the Hutchinson Clinic Walk-In Care facility was opened in South Hutchinson.

2014

In February 2014, the Hutchinson Clinic added a Walk-In Care clinic to the 1100 North Main Building and re-branded our 2101 North Waldron Same Day Care location to a Walk-In Care clinic.

2016

Also in late 2016, the Hutchinson Clinic added Family Practice and Walk-In Care on Main Street in Cheney.
