Dr. Gillings founded HUYA Bioscience International and has grown this privately-held company to become the global leader in accelerating the development of novel biopharmaceutical product opportunities originating in China in worldwide markets. She was the first to establish extensive collaborations with Chinese academic and commercial biopharmaceutical organizations for this purpose. Dr. Gillings has been the driving force in building HUYA to its current position of strength. With over 25 years’ experience in industry and academia, Dr. Gillings has made significant contributions to research in the field of neurological disease, focusing on neuroactive steroids and neurological and neurodegenerative diseases. Dr. Gillings completed postdoctoral fellowships at Bordeaux University and Scripps Research Institute and holds a PhD from Radboud University Nijmegen. She is the vice chair and co-founder of GHO Capital, a private equity fund specializing in global health; has served on the board of Quintiles, now IQVIA, a Fortune 500 company, where she was a member of the Governance, Quality and Nominating Committee; is a board member of Senté Inc, a private science-based skincare company; and serves on the Pasteur Institute Advisory Board. In 2017, Dr. Gillings was awarded an Honorary Degree by the University of Exeter in recognition of her significant business, scientific and philanthropic achievements. In the same year, the UK Sunday Times named her as one of the top 10 women entrepreneurs

Mr. Gingras has 18 years management and operational experience with international brands. Today he is responsible for HUYA Bioscience International’s presence in Asia, which includes oversight of operations in China and Japan and the engagement strategy for the wider region. Mr Gingras also directs the company’s IT and technology development, focusing on the growth of the HUYA compound database, the world’s most comprehensive portfolio of Chinese compounds. Prior to joining HUYA, Mr Gingras served in a range of international operational and leadership positions, including a decade at Ericsson, the global communications technology and services provider, where he led multi-market deployment projects across South, Central and North America. Mr. Gingras graduated from Concordia University where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Specialization Hydrology and a Computer Programming Post Graduate Certificate. He speaks French and English.

Gloria Lee is a Chief Medical Officer at HUYA Bioscience International. She has worked as Associate Director at AVENTIS INC; VP:Clinical Development at SYNDAX PHARMACEUTICALS INC; and Chief Medical Officer at KITE PHARMA, INC.. Gloria studied at Columbia University and University of Miami School of Medicine.

Senior finance executive with over 25 years experience in managing companies during periods of high growth in the technology and life science industries combined with extensive expertise in leading and managing fundraisings, public listings, acquisitions and trade sales.

Dr. Romano provides scientific project management for preclinical programs and supports corporate partnering at HUYA Bioscience International. Dr. Romano has more than 17 years of experience in the pharmaceutical/biotech industry, with “hands-on” as well as management experience in drug discovery, preclinical development, corporate partnering, and alliance management in a broad range of therapeutic areas including oncology, diabetes, inflammation, and CNS disorders. Dr. Romano has provided scientific business development consulting services to a number of biotech companies. She was previously Director of Business Development at Novasite Pharmaceuticals, and she served in corporate development and drug discovery positions at Ontogen Corporation. Prior to that she was a member of the biotechnology product development group at Johnson & Johnson. Dr. Romano received a Ph.D. in Biology/Neurobiology from the University of California, San Diego and an A.B. in Biology from Princeton University.

Alain Rolland is an executive with 30 years of international leadership in Pharmaceutical and Biotech companies. He is currently COO at Emerald Health Pharmaceuticals Inc. and was previously CEO & President of CHIME BioTherapeutics, Inc., an immuno-oncology startup that he co-founded. He has been involved in strategic and operational planning, business development, and financing. He has led R&D organizations with over 60 scientists to develop novel biologics and small molecules. He has moved products through discovery and INDs into the clinic (through Phase 3) for the treatment of cancer, cardiovascular, neuromuscular, pulmonary and infectious diseases. Before being a Corporate Officer at Vical, he was Senior Vice President R&D at Valentis, Vice President of Research at GENEMEDICINE, Head of Pharmaceutics at the R&D Center of Galderma International (France) and a scientist at the Advanced Drug Delivery Research Center of Ciba Geigy (UK). Dr. Rolland received a Pharm.D, a Pharmacokinetics/Biopharmaceutics degree and a Ph.D. from the School of Pharmacy (Rennes, France). For his Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Sciences, he invented and developed a novel nanotechnology for targeting anticancer drugs to the liver that was evaluated in a Phase 1-2 clinical trial for the treatment of hepatocellular carcinoma. He has published over 90 scientific articles and book chapters, edited 3 scientific books and is a member of several scientific societies. He is the founding Editor-in-Chief of Current Pharmaceutical Biotechnology and an inventor of more than 20 international patents in advanced drug delivery systems, drug/gene targeting and formulation.
