Instructor - Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC)

Responsibilities

Responsible for delivery of all course materials and instruction for academic programs offered by the institution, to prepare the student for the workplace;

Is knowledgeable of and adheres to all institutional educational policies and procedures;

Maintain student records and participate in curriculum development and revision;

SCI instructors have the primary responsibility of aiding our students in the achievement of their goal (i.e. to be trained and placed), and delivering a Student First experience.

Requirements

Minimum 5 years experience working in HVAC;

Texas ACR Contractor /Certified Technician License (issued by Texas Department Licensing and Regulation);

Demonstrated experience and proficiency with installation and repair on all types of commercial and residential air conditioning, heating and refrigeration;

Universal EPA 608 required;

Preferred one NATE certification, HVAC Excellence certification, LEED Certification, RSES Certification, and/or HVAC technical trades school diploma with continuing educational classes;

Solid foundation of Superheat & Subcooling, thermodynamics, electrical, ohms law, and electromagnetism.

Duties:

• Routine updates and leadership of a comprehensive HVAC Apprenticeship Program to include scheduling and production of all printed and electronic materials for the program.
• Lead all classroom and practical training opportunities for HVAC Apprenticeship
• Lead monthly ongoing technical training for all HVAC Service Technicians
• Perform ride-a-longs with service technicians, focused on skills development and ongoing training in the field
• Work closely with HVAC Service Manager to define goals and measurables for apprentices entering the team.
• Design, develop, and administer learning programs for employees, help individuals and groups develop skill and knowledge, create learning manuals, and present in-person, eLearning, and other learning experiences
• Prepare new and existing employees for success by conducting orientation to company processes and procedures, develop individual coaching plans, provide resources and assistance, in addition to scheduling learning sessions with senior representatives
• Develop and implement testing and assessment procedures to evaluate training program effectiveness
• Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, maintaining personal networks, and participating in professional organizations

Requirements:

• 10+ Years in the residential HVAC Service industry
• Ability to work in a team or individually to complete complex tasks
• Excellent organizational and project management skills
• Must have advanced knowledge of general office procedures and demonstrate excellent organizational and computer skills specifically in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and e-mail
• Effective and collaborative team player, motivated by a fast-paced high-performance environment
• Demonstrate ability to maintain cooperative, diplomatic working relationships with co-workers & supervisors; work as part of a team and collaborate with colleagues & maintain a positive work ethic; complete projects under tight deadlines even when there are competing requirements and changes in assignments
• Display the ability to prioritize and plan work activities; uses time efficiently; plan for additional resources; set goals and objectives; develop realistic action plans
