What you will do
Under general direction, responsible for the service & repair, design, configuration, and operation of complete HVAC building control systems and other low voltage control sub-systems (i.e., lighting, nurse call, data networks, etc.) to meet the intent of the customers and JCI goals. The HVAC controls Technician, within the Department of Aviation, performs technical maintenance work of Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC). Responsibilities include the instillation, calibration, troubleshooting and repair of the HVAC controls systems to ensure optimal performance and efficiency.
Responsibilities
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Installs, programs, and calibrates HVAC control systems.
Repairs and replaces wiring or controls in HVAC systems to restore functionality and efficiency.
Inspects and test control systems to verify system compliance with plans and specifications or to
detect and locate malfunctions.
Performs corrective and preventive maintenance on HVAC systems to maintain correct
temperature, humidity, pressure, and volume of systems.
Maintains repair or maintenance records.
Assists in developing specifications for instrumentation, controls, and electrical components.
Assists with training others on controls systems concepts and procedures.
Perform all other tasks as assigned.

Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
An associate degree/ in heating and air-conditioning or completion of technical or vocational course of study in HVAC control systems.
5 years of experience performing maintenance on HVAC control systems.
Must have a valid driver's license (DL) and convert to state of Georgia within 30-days of hire.

Loading Johnson Controls field and network level controller software.
Performing commissioning and system diagnostics for all levels of system controllers as well as end
devices (i.e. Sensors, actuators, etc.) and complete all required commissioning documentation.
Keeps management and JCI contractor or customer informed of job progress and issues.
Calibrates systems requiring basic electronic test equipment.
Completes administrative tasks including time sheets, expense reports, and on-site documentation.
Documents change and provide information for as-built documentation.
Execute company sponsored as well as personally initiated training to ensure the highest level of knowledge and capability are maintained
Engage with customers to fully understand their systems and needs.
Communicates with the JCI contractor or customer upon arrival and before leaving the work site.
Follows all safety standards and attends required safety training. High degree of employee and subcontractor safety.
Provide recommendations and solutions to ensure facility is running efficiently to include upselling opportunities.
Provide quotes to support recommendations and solutions.
What we look for
Required
Vocational School program or an associate degree in electronics, mechanical systems, computer technology, air conditioning or similar field plus three years of industry experience in servicing electrical, electronic and/or mechanical systems in the HVAC industry.
Understanding of HVAC systems, sequence and applications
Demonstrated technical aptitude in mechanical and electro-mechanical fields
Able to use hand, power tools and electrical testing equipment such as a multi meter.
Solid knowledge base in use of personal computers.
Attention to detail.
Good communication and listening skills.

Perform start-up and commissioning of newly installed HVAC systems including:

Variable Air Volume (VAV) / Powered Induction Units (PIUs)
Verify system operation matches design intent, sequence of operations, and manufacturer's guidelines.
Record and submit start-up data, performance metrics, and control readings.
Troubleshoot start-up issues and collaborate with controls, electrical, and mechanical teams to resolve problems.
Equipment Checkout & Testing
Conduct system checkout for wiring, piping, and control verification prior to energizing equipment.
Verify power, control wiring terminations, and sensor calibration.
Ensure all safety and operational controls are functional prior to turnover.
Documentation and reporting
Demolition & Replacement Work
Perform demo and retrofit work on existing HVAC systems in both occupied and unoccupied construction environments.
Safely disconnect, remove, and replace units as required by project scope.
Coordination & Communication
Work closely with project managers, foremen, and controls technicians to ensure systems meet performance and turnover requirements.
Communicate effectively with clients, general contractors, and other trades during project execution.
Knowledge, Skills, and Qualifications
Skills & Knowledge:
Strong understanding of HVAC systems, controls, and electrical wiring.
Proficient in reading blueprints, wiring diagrams, and control schematics.
Familiar with BAS/controls systems (Johnson, Trane, Carrier, Daikin, etc.).
Ability to use test instruments such as multimeters, manometers, and refrigerant gauges.
Excellent troubleshooting, documentation, and time management skills.
Qualifications:
EPA Universal Refrigerant Certification
OSHA 10/30 Certification
Successfully pass a background check and drug screening
Become a member of the Local 72 Union
