What You'll Do:
As a Commercial HVAC Service Technician, youll play a vital role in installing, troubleshooting, and repairing heating, cooling, and refrigeration systems on a wide range of commercial and industrial projects. Youll work closely with customers, field staff, and supervisors to ensure systems run smoothly and reliably.
Key Responsibilities:
Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair commercial/industrial HVAC systems, including multi-zone heating and cooling.
Perform startups and warranty service for a variety of commercial systems.
Inspect, test, and repair components such as compressors, motors, fans, and controls.
Service refrigeration, air conditioning, heating, and humidity control systems.
Read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and schematics.
Communicate with customers and provide service recommendations.
Ensure compliance with safety procedures and quality standards.
Assist in HVAC and plumbing system installations as needed.

Ideal Qualifications:

The primary objective of this position is to perform daily activities of a Commercial Service Technician under the direction of the Service Manager. This position will be primarily responsible for the daily field activities required to execute aftermarket projects, T&M Labor, Preventative Maintenance Agreements and help manage the guys. This position must obtain the company core values (listed below) along with having a team mentality and excelling in written and oral communication skills. The Mechanical Service Technician is responsible for maintaining excellent customer relationships, maintaining expert knowledge on HVAC equipment, providing and maintaining quality workmanship and documentation, coordination of post-sale work, verifying safety standards are met, and issue resolution. This position will demonstrate excellent time management skills as well as excellent problem-solving capabilities.
Description of Principle Duties:
Assist Project Manager with installation training when required.
Troubleshoot and diagnose building mechanical systems (including but not limited to: RTUs, split systems, VRFs, boilers, chillers, AHU and VAV).
Capable of repairing and/or installing proposed diagnosis.
Responsible for planning, layout and overall efficiency at project repair and/or installation.
Ability to work independently.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints and wiring diagrams.
Assist with Owner Training.
Support Service Manager with warranty and non-warranty issue resolution.
Manage onsite communication with customers and facility directors.
Maintain a safe work environment.
Assist in training apprentices.
Occasionally assist with the startup or issue resolution with other mechanical and control product lines
Consult with Service Manager or manufacturer support in times of uncertainty.
Collaboration with project stakeholders to solve issues effectively and efficiently.
Coordination with aftermarket project management, and service controller to ensure jobs remain on track and on schedule.
Collaboration with manufacturers and AEC stakeholders to ensure effective issue resolution. This includes but not limited to AEC aftermarket project management, sales, application engineering, and operations controlling team.

Additional Knowledge/Skill Set:
Understands basic refrigeration cycle: Understand what super heat and subcooling shows in a refrigeration circuit, identifying components in refrigeration circuit, understanding how each component works, diagnosing problems in the refrigeration circuit, using manifold gauge set, pressure/temperature chart and temperature measuring devices for routine maintenance and to troubleshoot. Understands refrigeration recovery, evacuation, and proper charging of a system based off superheat and subcooling.
Understands basic electron theory, how electricity travels, AC and DC currents, single phase and three phase circuits, and series and parallel circuits. Ability to read basic wiring diagrams. Understanding Ohms Law. Ability to use multi-meters to read voltage, current and resistance values. Must be able to troubleshoot basic electrical circuits.
Understands the process of conditioning air and simultaneously control the temperature, humidity, and distribution. Must be able to read and understand mechanical drawings. o Understands basic heating cycle to include identifying components in heating system, understanding how each component works, diagnosing problems in the heating system using a gas pressure monometer and other devices for routine maintenance and to troubleshoot a gas fired unit.
Understands the theory of combustion and how it relates to combustible fuels such as gas and oil. Understands a gas combustion analyzer and how to correct if the combustion isn't correct
Education, Experience and Qualifications:
HVAC Journeyman license and EPA Certification. At least 5 years of trade related work experience.
High School diploma or equivalent GED certificate.
OSHA 10-hour safety certificate

What You'll Do
Conduct warranty-related HVAC installations and repairs per manufacturer specifications and company standards
Perform advanced troubleshooting and diagnostics to identify and resolve issues with installed systems
Replace defective components and parts under warranty to ensure full system functionality
Document all work performed, including parts used, labor hours, and customer interactions
Communicate warranty coverage, repair processes, and preventive maintenance recommendations to customers
Collaborate with team members and departments to complete warranty tasks on time
Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment, including company vehicle and tools
Follow all company safety protocols and OSHA standards
What We're Looking For
Required:
Active Kentucky Journeyman HVAC License
EPA Certification
Minimum 5 years of residential HVAC experience
Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic abilities
Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. regularly
Excellent communication, customer service, and interpersonal skills
Ability to read technical manuals, schematics, and blueprints
Preferred:
Additional HVAC certifications or licenses
Experience specifically in warranty repair and documentation
