Cedars-Sinai Biomanufacturing Center (CBC) is a 22,000 square foot, state-of-the-art biomanufacturing facility located in West Hollywood, California. The CBC is comprised of a cGMP cell manufacturing facility, housing multiple cleanroom cell production suites, and process development rooms for producing the next generation of cell and gene therapies. These new therapies will be used for human IND-enabling clinical trials. With combined expertise and a cGMP-compliant approach to manufacture cells at scale, the CBC will overcome many challenges by building innovative technologies, connecting protocols, up-scaling of processes and achieving Food and Drug Administration standards for all steps involved to bring innovative cell therapy solutions to researchers and translation scientists. What will you be doing in this role?
The Biomedical Technician participates on wet- and dry- laboratory projects and may execute tasks requiring compliance with all Federal and State accrediting agency requirements and/or GLP. Responsible for assigned wet lab work, lab maintenance, and writing and recording controlled documents. Performs all activities strictly according to SOPs, with accurate documentation, and may assist quality control team with required testing activities. Installs and maintains laboratory equipment to ensure accurate functioning of devices. Assists in addressing complex issues and troubleshooting.
Primary Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Performs a variety of process development tasks for multiple clients following standard operating procedures that will be different for each project based on the type work.
Writes and maintains good documentation in laboratory notebooks, data records/transfers, SOPs, and batch records.
Drafts standard operating procedures and maintains computer database.
Verifies samples received, logs samples into systems, and may transport to the appropriate environment within the facility for storage following SOPs.
Performs lab maintenance duties, including glassware cleaning and sterilization.
Maintains lab equipment and related records.
Prepares and maintains material inventories, and places orders for equipment and supplies.
Assists in the operation of specialized equipment and machinery.
Ensures all activities align with regulatory guidelines and safety standards, as appropriate. Interacts with core laboratory customers with integrity and respect and communicates effectively with the customers.
Qualifications
Education:
Associate Degree in biology, biochemistry, or related science or engineering specialization is required. Bachelor's degree preferred.
Experience & Skills:
One (1) year of experience working in a lab or biotech environment.
A minimum of one (1) year working with biomedical equipment, including maintenance and/or testing, is required.
Must have outstanding interpersonal, communication, organization skills, and the ability to work across company fields and functional units, and computer application experience.
Knowledge of regulatory requirements including Federal, FDA, State, and standards set by accrediting bodies.
Familiar with routine laboratory procedures, experimental protocols, and overall lab organization.
Knowledge of specialized equipment.
Ability to use databases. Must possess computer skills to include, but not limited, to Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
Responds to emergency calls in order to troubleshoot malfunctions of equipment and able to resolve the problem quickly and accurately.

In this role, you will be responsible for directly managing the airborne particle levels of areas within cleanroom manufacturing areas for medical device implants. Working with minimal supervision, you will handle both scheduled and unplanned maintenance, collaborate with contractors, and support critical cleanroom operations to uphold the highest standards of quality and safety.
Must be familiar with ISO 8 or higher standards within medical device.
Key Responsibilities:
Directly oversee and manage airborne particle levels in medical device cleanroom manufacturing environment
Conduct routine and emergency maintenance, including painting, plumbing, electrical repairs, and carpentry.
Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on facility equipment such as air compressors, HVAC systems, and other utilities, utilizing drawings, schematics, and manufacturer instructions.
Oversee and coordinate external contractors performing specialized tasks to ensure compliance with standards and project timelines.
Maintain accurate and comprehensive maintenance logs, records, and documentation in alignment with ISO, GMP, and internal policies.
Respond swiftly to facility alarms, excursions, and emergency situations to restore systems to operational standards promptly.
Support cleanroom environmental controls, including monitoring and adjusting pressure differentials, temperature, humidity, and particle counts.
Collaborate proactively with Quality, Engineering, and Production teams to optimize cleanroom operations, execute continuous improvement initiatives, and ensure contamination control standards are upheld.
Follow all safety protocols, including OSHA standards, EHS programs, and cleanroom contamination procedures such as gowning, sanitization, and cleaning protocols.
Participate in on-call rotations to support facility needs after hours or during weekends.
Qualifications & Skills:
Minimum of 5 years of experience in facilities maintenance or related roles, with a proven track record in a manufacturing, pharmaceutical, biotech, or semiconductor environment preferred.
Strong technical knowledge of HVAC systems, building utilities, filtration, and related disciplines.
Basic understanding of electrical systems, fire alarm controls, and building automation/control systems.
Familiarity with ISO 14644 cleanroom standards and GMP regulations is a plus.
Proficient in following Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and detailed maintenance manuals.
Hands-on experience with hand tools, test instruments, and maintenance equipment.
Demonstrated problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot independently.
Strong attention to detail, with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
High school diploma or equivalent required; technical or trade school certification preferred.
OSHA safety certification (e.g., Lockout/Tagout, Confined Space Entry, PPE) is advantageous.
Knowledge and Abilities:
Thorough understanding of business procedures, safety practices, and technical fundamentals in maintenance disciplines.
Ability to interpret schematics, drawings, and maintenance manuals.

Job Functions
Repair all equipment and prescribed physical facility items in a timely and high quality manner according to company standards, policies, and procedures. Repairs include but are not limited to restaurant and commercial cooking equipment, ice/beverage equipment, refrigeration equipment, building control systems, exhaust and fresh air systems, drive-thru audio systems, HVAC systems, minor electrical systems and circuits, minor plumbing systems including hot water heaters, and minor building repairs.
Maintain and account for truck stock inventory, including the accurate charging and billing of items used for repairs.
Maintain, account for and secure all tools, equipment, supplies, and materials on-site, purchased, ordered, replaced, or discarded.
Respond and assist as needed in staffing shortages, new equipment rollouts, emergencies, natural disasters, training, etc., outside of assigned region.
Complete all administrative requirements of the position in a timely and accurate manner. Use lap top and/or hand held computer to log in calls, time, and nature of repair at each designated site. Enter ongoing data into lap top/hand held computer regarding location and repairs anticipated, completed, ongoing, parts purchase and time arrived, on-site, and completed.
Inspect, maintain, and perform daily maintenance on company van to assure proper running condition to respond to calls quickly with minimum interruption 24/7.
Alert Senior Service Tech of any service repairs needing assistance, technically, mechanically, and physically. Use house or cell phones to communicate with Senior Service Tech as needed.
