Maintain and repair heating, ventilation, and cooling units for both commercial and industrial customers.

Diagnose diverse service issues, obtain any replacement parts, calibrate system to manufacturers recommendations, and effectively explain to the customer the solutions.

PRIMARY FUNCTION:
The HVAC Technician position supports the branch, and client, in all HVAC maintenance, installation, and repair needs. This position ensures that all rental HVAC equipment maintenance and repair needs of the branch is conducted in an efficient, accurate, and timely manner. This role provides a great opportunity to learn and grow within our service department and beyond.
PRIMARY DUTIES:
Performs maintenance, testing, and repairs of HVAC systems and equipment in both the shop and in the field

PRIMARY PURPOSE:
Skilled independent work in the repair, maintenance, preventive maintenance of air conditioning systems along with related systems and equipment. Ability to clear drain lines, wash condensers and chillers.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
Maintenance and Repair
* Maintain all heating, ventilation, and air conditioning equipment on assigned campuses along with peripheral related equipment (chillers, air handlers, fan coils, basic controls, dx units, related piping, and air compressors).
* Manages assigned work orders, maintaining material and labor costs applied to each job.
* Show accountability for supplies purchased or issued.
* Responsible for care and maintenance of assigned vehicles and tools.
* Responsible for meeting performance standards.
* Execute scheduled preventative maintenance routines on mechanical equipment, including fans,pumps, motors, and air handling units.
* Accurately inspect, tension, and replace drive belts ( V-belt, serpentine belts, etc.) to ensure proper operation.
* Lubrication safely and effectively lubricate bearing, motor and moving parts using appropriate greases and oil, following established schedules and procedures.
* Conduct visual inspections of equipment for obvious signs of wear, leaks, excessive vibration, or over heating and report to the supervisor.
* Maintain a clean, safe and well organized facility and work area.
* Perform scheduled and emergency repairs and/or maintenance as directed.

Safely disassemble actuators and parts including various types of actuators such as:
Double acting pneumatic sliding stem piston actuators
Double acting pneumatic rotary piston actuators
Single acting sliding stem spring and diaphragm actuators
Single acting rotary spring and diaphragm actuators
Double acting rack and pinion actuators
Evaluate parts and maintain material awareness including:
Perform inspection of parts being used in assembly and ensure critical dimension requirements are being met where required
Identify and utilize manufacturers' nomenclature (i.e., literature including IOM, inspection criteria, part numbers, and model numbers)
Identify materials using approved PMI method, alloy analyzer, material markings, material standards, etc. including report completion
Complete all quality control sheets including date, sign-off, status, etc.
Understand all special requirements needed for the assembly while maintaining compliance with all factory and or customer requirements.
Safely and accurately perform some machining processes:
Use drill press or pneumatic tools for drilling and pinning stems for valve plugs
Use hand grinder for polishing some flange and sealing surfaces
Assembly
Safely assemble control valves from repair order instructions, customer test-report/specification sheets, and OEM IOM manuals; this includes performing all calibration of any and all positioners and or controllers.
Valve types include:
Sliding stem plug valves
Rotary ball valves
Rotary butterfly valves
Soft-seated ball valves
Install stem packing
Safely and accurately attaches actuators to valves
Sets correct valve travel
Sets correct bench set on actuator
Can accurately and efficiently tube up positioners and controllers to the actuator along with any other accessories on the assembly

Testing and Calibration
Safely test control valves according to applicable Code test requirements while applying and utilizing manufacturer's manuals using compressed air, water, and nitrogen. Accurate and thorough completion of test reports with all required detail is essential.

Ability to safely and accurately tube up, calibrate various pneumatic and digital positioners and controllers as per factory and or customer spec sheets including but not limited to the following:

Fisher 377 trip valves

Position Summary:
Put your maintenance and repair skills to good use at Vallen as an Onsite Service Technician III focused on Life Safety Services in the Vallen Safety Services Group. In this position, you will install and/or inspect, test, and maintain (ITM) life safety systems and equipment for established customers on a scheduled basis.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
* Provide quality of service to our customers. Assist assigned HTS technicians with proper training in Vallen standard operating procedures.
* Providing customer service in the area of installation and/or ITM of Life Safety Systems. Including, but not limited to: Fire Extinguishers, Fire Alarm and Detection Systems, Gas Detection Systems, Foam Systems, Dry Chemical Systems, Clean Agent Systems, Special Hazard Systems and Water Based Systems.
* May also have job coordination responsibilities in the absence of a Technician Lead if assigned by the supervisor/manager for specific jobs or customers.
* May lead other technicians within area of expertise.
* May be responsible for interacting with the customers to coordinate job activities.
* Responsible for ensuring all documentation associated with assigned tasks is filled out accurately, completely & turned in for proper invoicing.
* Ensures all required copies provided to the customer upon servicing equipment.
* Knowledgeable of all regulatory standards pertaining to assigned duties, i.e., State, OSHA, and NFPA regulations, etc.
* May be responsible for Parts & Equipment requests for specific assigned jobs.
* Maintaining accurate inventories related to job and maintenance orders.
* Always exhibit safe work practices.
* Assist shipping and receiving, unloading trucks, checking in merchandise, matching purchase orders to sales orders & distributing to sales associates for processing.
* May include the use of company provided assets such as but not limited to: Company Vehicle, Inventory, Safety Equipment, Laptop, BR Scanner, Test Equipment, Tools, Radio, Cell Phone, Fuel Card and/or Credit Card.
* Associates are required to maintain proper care of all assets as defined by Vallen policies.
* May have immediate supervision over a tech service unit.
Job Qualifications:
* High School or GED
* Minimum 3 Certification (manufacturing/state) in a fire protection related field
* NICET II or greater
* Fire Alarm & Ext A 2-4 years' experience or
* WBS Construction 2-4 years' experience (Industry related)
* RME-I (if applicable)
* Mechanically inclined
* Advance communication, initiative, and problem-solving skills
* Specific -- RELEVENT experience
* Experience in the installation and/or maintenance, repair and service of Life Safety Systems and equipment is required.
* Advance industry segment knowledge.
* Maintain minimum productivity of 95% within 60 days.
* Demonstrated ability to successfully manage a Customer Acct or Project.
* Ability to repair and service equipment sold by Vallen.
* Current Motor Vehicle License with good driving record.
* Commercial Driver's License required if carrying loads of hazardous materials.
* Proficient with hand tools.
* Able to complete repairs and maintenance of equipment in a timely and accurate manner
* Able to provide assistance, advise and training to Vallen associates and plant personnel.
* Assist warehouse personnel with order fulfillment if needed.
* Keep all certifications and licenses current and renewed by completing continuing education as required.
* Must pass Drug & Alcohol screen, Physical exam, and background check.
Work Environment & Physical Demands:

* Able to work from a standing position for 8-10 hours.
* Bending, climbing, and stooping as needed for access of equipment to repair and service.
