Service Personnel POSITION: Locksmith IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: Supervisor of Maintenance FLSA STATUS: Non-exempt EMPLOYMENT TERM: Minimum 261 days annually SALARY: Pursuant to WV Code §18A-4-8a, in accordance with Kanawha County Salary Scale, Pay Grade G2 commensurate with experience and education level. EVALUATION: Performance in this position will be evaluated annually by the immediate supervisor and in accordance with WV State Code §18A-2-12, WV State Board Policy 5314, and KCS's Guide to Performance Evaluation for Service Personnel. JOB SUMMARY: Repairs, maintains and changes the various types of locks, safe combinations, and keys found in the Kanawha County School system. PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: Additional duties may be assigned. Maintains in good working condition all locks (approximately 24,000) within the school system. Cuts keys of all types. Repairs broken locks and master key cylinders. Respond to emergency situations, wherein a broken lock prevents proper security within a building or school facility. Prepares and change combinations on safes when conditions exist. Opens safes in case of lock-outs. Maintains tools of the locksmith craft. Repairs panic hardware as schedule allows and emergency warrants. Maintains time and materials records of jobs. Maintains regular attendance. Maintains a neat and orderly work area. Complies with KCS Policies. Complete necessary training and in-service as required by KCS. Receives permission from building principal/supervisor to work in excess of 40 hours per week. Attends in-services and workshops as directed. Follows all safety rules and regulations and uses prescribed personal protective equipment. Maintains confidentiality. Continuously improves processes. Individual must be able to drive a truck, must also be able to operate a key machine, grinder, drill, and drill press, etc. Individual must also maintain this equipment.
