What you will do
Under minimal supervision, conducts preventive maintenance, repair, installation, and commissioning and general servicing of systems (including detailed troubleshooting of systems). Responsible for high levels of customer satisfaction through direct, on site, customer interface. With a high level of complete technical competence, mentors control technicians, service technicians and mechanical technicians on building automation activities. Properly completes required project and service documentation. Provide our customers with the highest level of service to solve building inefficiencies and resolve service-related items. As a trusted advisor to our customers, you will provide solutions and outcomes at the time of service
How you will do it
Diagnoses and repairs complex control systems malfunctions requiring extensive knowledge of a variety of electronic or digital controls systems and ability to test and write modifications in multiple languages of systems software.
Consults with the customer through data gathered and site assessments. Provides field proposals for retrofits, upgrades and or enhancements to existing equipment. Assists sales by providing technical recommendations for sales leads.
Manages assigned work to meet professional and efficient execution of time and customer satisfaction. Reports problems or changes to management immediately. Interfaces with branch manager, service manager, service project manager or subcontractors on projects to coordinate activities as required ethically and professionally.
Provides sketches of field changes and discrepancies for engineering corrections and drawings. May assist with job layouts and bid proposals.
Communicates with customers upon arrival and before leaving the work site. Ensures high levels of customer satisfaction. Meets regularly with customers to become familiar with operating problems. Keeps customer informed on the service provided, outstanding issues and recommends system enhancements, upgrades, and replacement. Promotes the sale of add-on work.
Adheres to all Johnson Controls and customer safety standards. Provides safety leadership and instruction to all control's technicians in the branch. Provides safety awareness while working onsite with Johnson Controls subcontractors.
Trains the customer in control systems operations. Delivers manuals and documentation to the customer for training needs as required.
Provides mentorship for certification of Controls Technicians and Service Technicians on complex building automation systems. Coaches, supports and trains the technical workforce on non-complex, non-critical equipment.
Compiles job documentation, such as certificate of completion, customer training form, training certificates and punch lists.
Conducts extensive self-study (reading, research and practice) to improve and maintain technical proficiency in company's product lines. Completes certifications as required by the company.
Other duties related to the installing, commissioning and servicing of building controls and facilities management systems and energy management systems, as assigned.
Assists in the design and configuration of building control systems as defined by the contract documents. Creates flow diagrams, sequence of operations, and bill of material, network layouts and electrical schematics as required.
Assists in developing and testing software programs necessary to operate the system per the project requirements' intent.
Compiles and/or completes project as built and close-out documentation.
Assists in the coordination and creation of necessary drawings and equipment schedules for submittals and installation.
Selects, orders, and tracks the delivery of materials for assigned projects. Coordinates factory-mounting processes to meet factory and project schedule.
Assists in the loading and commissioning of all system and network-level controllers as required. Assists in validation of complete system functionality and troubleshoots problems with subcontractors and other trades to ensure proper operation.
May provide field change information to the project team for the creation of as-built drawings and software.
Keeps management and JCI contractor or customer informed of job progress and issues.
Assists in performing site-specific training for owner / operator on the total building control system.
Participates in release meeting with project field team.
Provide recommendations and solutions to ensure facility is running efficiently to include upselling opportunities.
Provide quotes to support recommendations and solutions.

Minimum of Four (4) years Commercial Controls troubleshooting experience in the HVAC industry. This includes buildings, chiller plants and systems.

Under minimal supervision, conducts preventive maintenance, repair, installation, and commissioning and general servicing of systems (including detailed troubleshooting of systems). Provides sketches of field changes and discrepancies for engineering corrections and drawings. May assist with job layouts and bid proposals.
Install and modify software and graphics.
Communicates with customers upon arrival and before leaving the work site. Ensures high levels of customer satisfaction. Meets regularly with customers to become familiar with operating problems. Keeps customer informed on the service provided, outstanding issues and recommends system enhancements, upgrades, and replacement. Promotes the sale of add-on work.
Adheres to all Johnson Controls and customer safety standards. Provides safety leadership and instruction to all control's technicians in the branch. Provides safety awareness while working onsite with Johnson Controls subcontractors.
Trains the customer in control systems operations. Delivers manuals and documentation to the customer for training needs as required.
Provides mentorship for certification of Controls Technicians and Service Technicians on complex building automation systems. Coaches, supports and trains the technical workforce on non-complex, non-critical equipment.
Compiles job documentation, such as certificate of completion, customer training form, training certificates and punch lists.
Conducts extensive self-study (reading, research and practice) to improve and maintain technical proficiency in company's product lines. Completes certifications as required by the company.
Other duties related to the installing, commissioning and servicing of building controls and facilities management systems and energy management systems, as assigned.
Assists in the design and configuration of building control systems as defined by the contract documents. Creates flow diagrams, sequence of operations, and bill of material, network layouts and electrical schematics as required.
Assists in developing and testing software programs necessary to operate the system per the project requirements' intent.
Compiles and/or completes project as built and close-out documentation.
Assists in the coordination and creation of necessary drawings and equipment schedules for submittals and installation.
Selects, orders, and tracks the delivery of materials for assigned.
Assists in the loading and commissioning of all system and network-level controllers as required. Assists in validation of complete system functionality and troubleshoots problems with subcontractors and other trades to ensure proper operation.

Summary: An employee in this class performs the full range of duties associated with installation, maintenance, and repair of ventilation, air conditioning and environmental control systems. The Service Technician receives work orders indicating the nature of the work to be done. They are expected to determine the materials, tools, and repair procedures needed. Limited supervision is given to this employee.
Essential Job Functions:• Replace faulty thermostats, wiring, and controls.• Test electrical circuits or components for continuity, using electrical test equipment.• Reassemble and test equipment after repairs.• Repair or replace defective equipment, components or wiring.• Lay out and connect electrical wiring between controls and equipment according to wiring diagrams, using electrician's hand tools.• Inspect and test systems to verify system compliance with plans and specifications or to detect and locate malfunctions.• Adjust system controls to setting recommended by manufacturer to balance system.• Install auxiliary components to heating-cooling equipment, such as valves, air ducts and dampers.• Perform general or preventive maintenance procedures such as cleaning or vacuuming equipment.• Install and test automatic, programmable or wireless thermostats to minimize energy usage.• Arrive at jobsite at scheduled time and location as dispatched• Relocate from one jobsite to another jobsite as dispatched during the workday• Report to dispatcher when arriving and leaving jobsite• Follow instructions from supervisor and/or dispatcher and carry out in timely manner• Report problems with equipment to Service Dispatcher to expedite parts delivery• Communicate with customers and collect C.O.D. on maintenance visits as directed• Ability to work staggered schedule if required• Maintain professional appearance and attitude at all times• Complete all service-related forms properly• Provide all customers with new / renewal maintenance agreement program information• Inform and educate customers about residential planned maintenance agreements• Inform and educate customers on additional products or services available through company• Inform customer of replacement options following company guidelines• Develop basic knowledge of electrical refrigeration principles, service tool and testing devices• Develop skills to perform planned maintenance on residential systems utilizing maintenance• Offer maintenance and accessories on each call• Build average ticket by completing complete system diagnostic

The Senior Master HVACTechnician installs, modifies and repairs refrigeration systems such as: hermetic, semi-hermetic, screw, scroll and centrifugal units to 1100 tons; air conditioning; VAV and ventilation; VRF systems; CRAC units; geo-thermal; reversible chillers; air and water-cooled chillers; process coolers; ice machines; evaporative cooling; air compressing and related control systems, including pneumatic, DDC, and building control systems equipment. This person performs advanced installation tasks involving assembly, testing, calibrating, and adjusting of temperature control and environmental control systems such as air conditioning plants, air environmental control systems, air distribution systems and complex dual equipment cooling installations, specialized refrigerated warehouses and facilities and dehumidification systems.
Additionally, the Senior Master HVACTechnician installs new or repaired components and performs complex modifications of systems and components in accordance with applicable electrical publications and directives, and will maintain and repair specialized equipment such as DOAS; MAU and Pool Pak systems. Key Responsibilities
* Diagnose and repair various refrigerant systems to include; Variable Refrigerant Flow Systems, Chillers, Reversible Chillers, CRAC Units
* Cut and bend tubing to correct length and shape, using cutting and bending equipment and tools, cuts and threads pipe, using machine-threading or hand-threading equipment. Joins tubing or pipes to various refrigerating units by means of sleeves, couplings or unions, and solders joints, using torch, forming complete circuit for refrigerant, installs various refrigerant valves in circuit(s)
* Test joints and connections in refrigerant piping for leaks using leak detector, verifies leak free using vacuum pump and vacuum hold test
* Test and verify proper operation of components, connects motors, compressors, temperature controls, humidity controls and ventilation fans
* Replace defective breaker controls, thermostats, switches, fuses and electrical wiring to repair installed units
* Add/remove Freon to refrigerant systems to achieve proper subcooling and superheat
* Observe pressure and vacuum gauges and adjusts controls to insure proper operation
* Wrap pipes in insulation batting and secure them in place with cement or wire bands
* Install, repair and service air conditioners, ranging up to 1100 tons cooling capacity in warehouses, barracks and commercial buildings
* Prepare work orders and cost materials estimates
* Assist in training lower-level workers in mechanical repair techniques
* Supervise and lead lower-level workers
* Performs other related duties as assigned
