The FS Repair Technician involves troubleshooting and repairing turbines, stators, and rotors in generators at customer locations. Essential Duties
Help to construct and operate testing equipment to identify problems and determine necessary field service.
Assist with paperwork, including test data, daily logs, job information, timesheets, and final reports.
Learn procedures for rewinding, re-wedging, re-blocking, rebuilding stator bars/coils or cores, and repairing turbines and related components.
Gain knowledge in winding insulation, curing, cooling stator bars/coils, and blocking bars/coils.
Build and assemble slot wedges into stator core grooves.
Acquire skills in stator core construction methods, including flooding, end winding, side bar packing, top and bottom filler, and resistance temperature detectors.
Work with various resins and solvents.
Become proficient with various hand and power tools.
Learn to operate a portable milling machine and wire welding procedures.
Help inventory and ensure supplies and equipment are in good working order before and after job site visits.
Operate overhead cranes and lift trucks properly.
Maintain a simplified tooling process by ensuring all responsible parties for a field project are aware of all tools sent out.
Prepare purchase requisitions for tooling, materials, and chemicals, coordinating with various suppliers.
Customize tooling designs or fabrication with various departments.
Coordinate shipping and receiving of field service tooling to job sites.
Inspect tools, including calibration and restocking, and follow procedures for testing electrical equipment.
Coordinate the calibration of tooling and fabricate or modify as needed.
Develop a mindset for service and courtesy.
Perform other tasks requiring similar or lesser skills, usually of short duration to meet field service requirements.

About the Role:
We are seeking a highly motivated HVAC Apprentice Pre-Apprentice to join our team at Harker Heating & Cooling, Inc. As an HVAC Apprentice Pre-Apprentice, you will be responsible for assisting our experienced technicians in the installation and maintenance of HVAC systems in new construction projects. You will work closely with our team to ensure that all projects are completed on time and to the highest quality standards.
Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent
Completion of a pre-apprenticeship program in HVAC or related field
Ability to lift heavy equipment and work in confined spaces
Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Preferred Qualifications:
Completion of an apprenticeship program in HVAC or related field
Experience working on new construction projects
Familiarity with local building codes and regulations
Ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics
EPA certification
Responsibilities:
Assist in the installation of HVAC systems in new construction projects
Perform routine maintenance on HVAC systems
Troubleshoot and diagnose issues with HVAC systems
Ensure that all work is completed in compliance with safety regulations
Maintain accurate records of work performed
Skills:
As an HVAC Apprentice Pre-Apprentice, you will utilize your technical skills and knowledge of HVAC systems to assist in the installation and maintenance of systems in new construction projects. You will work closely with our experienced technicians to troubleshoot and diagnose issues, ensuring that all work is completed in compliance with safety regulations. Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills are essential in this role, as is the ability to communicate effectively with team members and clients. As a Service Technician at Benedict's, you can expect to perform an exciting variety of work such as maintaining, repairing, and installing refrigeration, HVAC, ventilation systems, and commercial food service equipment. We do it all but exclusively commercial, which means no residential work! Equipment you can expect to work on includes: refrigeration, air conditioning, electric motors, heating units, heat pumps, hermetic compressors, commercial furnaces, boilers, burners, intake and exhaust fans, economizers, humidifiers, capacity controls, semi-hermetic compressors, split systems, flame safeguard controls, air compressors, air driers, package units, ice machine equipment, tap line systems, and commercial kitchen equipment such as; dishwashers, ovens, brewers, and stovetops.
This position does not have direct reports, primarily performs work independently with occasional team/group work environments and is under direct supervision.
Essential Functions/Responsibilities
Troubleshoots, repairs, and makes modifications to commercial mechanical equipment.
Reads and understands technical drawings (e.g., blueprints, electronic/mechanical schematics) to repair/maintain equipment.
Troubleshoots complex problems with equipment where the repair is not immediately visible or obvious.
Maintains inventory of replacement parts and orders replacements.
Utilizes a computerized management system to accurately record work progress and history.
Provides department support through collecting payment for necessary customers prior to service being performed and directing payments to appropriate personnel in a timely manner for processing.
Sets and achieves individual goals and supports department goals by contributing to a team environment.
Safely operates and maintains a company vehicle, tools, and equipment. • Demonstrates effective communication, assertiveness, versatility, and follow-through in responding to customer needs.

Requirements:
Education/Experience/Training Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Vocational/technical school training or apprenticeship preferred.
Minimum one year of related refrigeration/HVAC experience required, two-years preferred.
Licensing Requirements
EPA Universal Certification required
Valid class D driver's license and commercial insurability required
Federal Medical Card to transport large commercial trailers a plus.
Skills/Abilities Requirements
Excellent problem-solving, mechanical, and analytical skills.
Knowledge and understanding of commercial refrigeration/HVAC equipment.
Ability to perform effectively in a high-stress, fast paced environment
Ability to plan, organize, and prioritize work tasks
Ability to use power and hand tools.
Ability to use thermometers, pressure gauges, and other testing devices.
Ability to run copper piping and PVC.
Ability to read and interpret operation and repair manuals, schematics and mechanical blueprints.

Ability to travel between job sites and work locations 100% of the time
Ability to work a non-standard schedule including emergency on-call, nights, weekends, and holidays.

Physical Demands
Stationary Position: Must be able to maintain a stationary position for 2-4 hours while traveling between jobsites.
Move: Continually required to walk inside and outside jobsites and other work locations.
Operate: Frequently operates a commercial vehicle, power tools, and a mobile device. Occasionally operates a computer and other office productivity machinery. Repetitive finger motion, hand dexterity, outward and upward arm extension, and elbow bending is required.
Ascend/Descend: Frequently required to ascend/descend stairs and ladders to access all areas of equipment and jobsites including rooftops.
Positions self: Frequently required to bend, stoop and access small, confined spaces.
Communicate: Frequently communicates with internal and external customers using spoken word and the ability to perceive the natural sounds of normal speaking levels. Must be able to exchange accurate information through oral and written communication and make fine discriminations in sound. Must be able to communicate information and ideas so others will understand.
Observe/Inspect: Able to observe details at close range, distance range, peripherally and with the ability to adjust focus. Frequently utilizes visual acuity to operate vehicles, power tools & equipment and read technical information.
Transport: Frequently required to lift/push/carry items up to 50 pounds, occasionally 75+ pounds.
Exposed to: Occasionally works near moving mechanical parts. Frequently exposed to loud noise and vibration consistent with use of power tools and equipment. Frequently exposed to outside weather conditions.

HVACTechnician Responsibilities:

Cleaning, adjusting, and repairing systems, and performing warranty services.
Performing emergency repairs promptly and efficiently.
Keeping daily logs and records of all maintenance functions.
Ensuring compliance with appliance standards and with Occupational Health and Safety Act.
Complying with service standards, work instructions and customers' requirements.
HVACTechnician Requirements:
High school diploma, GED or suitable equivalent, and technical diploma in HVAC related coursework preferred.
8+ year experience as an HVACtechnician, and willingness to continue education in HVAC field.
Possess current HVAC license or certificates. EPA & Journeyman's.
Valid driver's license.
Understanding of advanced principles of air conditioning, refrigeration, and heating.
Working knowledge of boiler systems.
Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills.
Proficient in reading schematics and work plans.
Ability to work after hours, over weekends and on public holidays with short or no notice.
Ability to work in confined spaces.
