Representative duties include: Serving as a member of Service Department teams which are organized to conduct HVACR service jobs in an efficient and timely manner. Performing supervised and unsupervised basic HVACR service support activities (after having been shown all safety-related aspects of the role and the expected standards); e.g. changing filters, doing power and handwashing, picking and stocking parts, assisting Service Technicians. Performing progressively more difficult technical roles than noted in the preceding paragraph under the direct supervision of a Service Technician; e.g. performing simple troubleshooting, conducting seasonal maintenance checks, measuring/threading pipe, operating test equipment, soldering and brazing, installing power and control wiring, etc. Conducting non-service work in support of the IAQ and Installation Departments, as assigned. Performing related trainee/helper duties as directed by the Manager. Job Qualifications: High school graduate or equivalent, and enrolled in or a graduate of a post-secondary formal HVACR program of instruction. Good oral and written skills, including the ability to read and apply manufacturers' instructions, and to clearly communicate with customers, suppliers, and ENG Heating & Cooling, Inc. employees. Physical ability to perform all the duties noted above under the conditions, circumstances, and weather extremes found in the (state). Examples include the ability to lift and carry a 100 lb. load (of the size and shape of an item encountered on an HVACR job) a distance of 50'; carry a 100 lb. motor up a fully extended 32' ladder. Must not have a fear of heights (acrophobia). Interest and initiative to develop his or her HVACR skills through a combination of formal schooling, company training, self-study, manufacturers' workshops, and other professional development activities. Hold a current (state) driver's license and the ability to operate all vehicles in the corporate fleet within 30 days of initial employment. Incumbent must be insurable by company insurance carrier. Ability to work under pressures of time, a non-standard schedule, adverse weather conditions, customer demands, and backlog constraints. Plan, inspect, record and monitor HVAC concerns. Research concerns and order repair parts and supplies. Essential Functions: * 30-60% Perform all duties of Asst. HVAC Technician i.e. troubleshoot and repair HVAC equipment and systems. Service and maintain all types of HVAC/R systems, parts, units and components (e.g. steam traps, pressure regulators, steam regulators, pumps, fans). Replace defective devices/materials and check refrigerant levels in HVAC/R systems to ensure proper operations of units. Service and maintain high temperature and high pressure heating systems, parts and controls according to prescribed specifications. Assemble and disassemble HVAC/R systems and replace or repair defective parts. Inspect and test HVAC/R systems and components to identify problems and to assure system is set to operate at prescribed technical specifications. Check and adjust and vacuum gauges and controls to ensure efficient operations. Check joints and connections for gas leaks using various and techniques. Check regulators for all HVAC/R systems and units to assure they are adjusted correctly for proper operation and efficiency. * 5-30% Perform, oversee and inspect installation of HVAC equipment and systems. Install HVAC/R systems (units ranging in size from one-half tone to seven hundred tons plus cooling capacity) in accordance with manufacturer's specifications. Install and connect (adjusts and tests) electrical devices such as timers, timer relays, motors, compressors, temperature controls, humidity controls and circulating-ventilation fans to control panels. * 5-30% Join tubing or pipe to various HVAC/R units by means of sleeves, couplings or unions and solders or brazes joints using torch to form a complete unit. Install control devices by wiring connections between building power source and HVAC/R components and. Retrofit refrigerant in air conditioning units. Cut, thread and install pipe for all HVAC/R systems using appropriate equipment. Cut, bend, wedge and flare tubing to correct length and shape. * 10% Monitor inventory. Order and obtain supplies from stockroom and/or outside vendors. * 5-10% Read and interpret installation, maintenance and operations manuals. * 5% Coordinate activities with other trades and Health and Safety as needed. Plan, inspect, record and monitor HVAC concerns. Research concerns and order repair parts and supplies. Perform other duties as assigned by Superintendent/Supervisor. Additional Position Information: Education: Requires high school diploma or GED. Licenses/Certifications/Requirements: Valid Ohio Driver's License. Experience: Requires a minimum of 2 years experience in commercial/industrial HVAC systems.
