The pros working for Hy-vee was that there were good opportunities to move up the ladder.
Within the 2 years I worked at Hy-Vee I think the main con I experienced was the treatment of employees. Most of the employees that worked there were college students. We all had classes but it was very difficult for most of us to receive more than 10 hours a week. Another con would be the favoritism specifically in my department. I worked hard but I never got the same treatment as some of the workers that were good friends with the manager. To me I felt like this was the biggest down fall for my department because we were so divided. There were the people that were friends and hung out with the boss on their free times and there were the workers that worked hard and were treated differently because of this.
As a part time employee I didn't receive many perks but the one I did enjoy was on weekends if you worked you could get a free meal or Starbucks drink during your shift. This was great if you worked nights like I did and got hungry and didn't bring any packed food for your break if you got one.
I liked how little I was around the CEO and the leadership team. In the Hy-Vee I worked at they weren't always around so you were able to get what really needs done faster and more efficiently.
I would improve the health of the food and make sure things where more sanitary along with allowing the workers that aren't dealing with customers to wear only one head phone.
I came well dressed with all my documents including social security and birth certificate
The compensation was about average I would say just because it depended a lot on what you were doing and how long you have been there.
It was good if you meet the requirements then you are hired.
Being able to communicate with people and building a relationship with them so work doesn't always feel like work, be able to keep your mind in a good place.
Everyone works together as a team. Employees put the customers first in every interaction.
Too many changes by corporate that make it difficult for the customers at times.
Clean and friendly environment! Everyone is willing to help one another. Free weekend employee meals and 10% discount on groceries weekly. They pay well also.
He's very friendly and seems to be easy to talk to. He keeps all the stores informed on the store level and corporate level.
I would focus more on just the grocery store area of things and leave the annual events alone.
I was honest about everything I was asked and my knowledge of the position.
It compares very well. I have everything I need with the compensation and more.
It's represented very well.
My co-workers and the customers. It's an opportunity to make a difference in someone's life with a smile, hug or just noticing and talking with them.
Some store give quarterly bonuses
Pay is very poor, doesn't care about breaks, outside life you have, being sick, mental health. they don't care as much as they say they do about them employee, expect the experience at any retail store. Nothing really better or care more about emplyeee maybe even worse at some other stores
they have pretty good benefits for full time employees

The pay rate. They do not feel employee owned anymore and it doesn't matter how long you have been there. You are replaceable and they do it to save money
Their insurance and PTO
They brag about being employee owned, but it is actually the "top 500 people" of the company that own stock. Not the 84,000+ employees that actually work there.
