ResponsibilitiesBuild and assemble hydraulic systems, subsystems, and components such as valves, manifolds, and pumps.Build, crimp and test hydraulic hose assemblies. DeZURIK hydraulic technician job description

The Hydraulic Technician position fabricates, assembles, and tests custom Hydraulic Power Unit systems. The individual will interact with multiple departments throughout the project lifecycle, engaging with Engineering, Supply Chain, and Sales to discuss design details driven by customer requirements. This position may participate in field visits to support customers and also performs related duties as assigned in regards to the production process.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions)

* Interprets blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, and specifications to determine necessary dimensions and tolerances of finished assembly.
* Cuts and/or joins metal parts in order to fabricate or repair equipment using tools such as plasma cutter, mig welder, tig welder, arc welder, oxyacetylene torch, chop saw, grinder, drill press, clamps, and hand and power tools.
* Designs and fabricates parts and equipment to meet unusual or special needs of the product, using manufacturers' specifications, measuring devices, calculator, drawings and service requests.
* Moves material or supplies to directed locations in order to expedite repair work or modifications, using forklifts and/ or cranes.
* Installs manufacturers' components and equipment in order to test durability and safety.
* Fits and assembles parts into complete assembly using hand and power tools, verifying dimensions and alignment with measuring instruments such as micrometers, height gauges, and gauge blocks.
* Inspects and verifies conformance of finished work piece to specifications, using precision measuring instruments.

Education and Experience

* High School Diploma - Preference for additional training in hydraulics, fabrication or design
* 1 - 3 years of experience preferred in hydraulics, fabrication or design
* Knowledge on the installation of new hydraulic components, valves, pumps and bending/routing of hydraulic lines required
* Knowledge of the properties of various welding rods and fluxes used in welding metals required
* Required to understand the characteristics and properties of various metals used in the cutting, forming and welding of objects
* Need to have awareness of occupational hazards and safety precautions, practices and procedures of the welding trade
* Must possess the operations knowledge of various types of equipment and tools common to the welding trade (e.g., mig welder, tig welder, oxyacetylene torch, arc welder, plasma cutter, saw, drill press, grinder, etc.)
* Capability of calculating mathematical problems involving addition, subtraction, multiplication, division on a calculator to determine weights, measurements, time and quantities
* Must be able to read and interpret technical engineering assembly and fabrication drawings
* Must possess ability to follow detailed oral and written instructions in the fabrication or repair of requested equipment.
* Must be able to communicate ideas to shop personnel regarding the design and fabrication of the product.

Physical Demands

Must be able to tolerate long hours in shop environment and support after hours business needs as they arise. May be required to stand, stoop, bend, kneel and squat for extended periods of time.

Occasional handling of material and components; may have contact with caustic substances in some areas of plant.

Must be able to move 60 pounds for a distance of up to 10 feet independently.

Working Conditions

Normal manufacturing and office environment. When working occasionally in some shop areas, personal protection equipment recommended and/or required (safety shoes, safety glasses w/side shields, hearing protection, face shield, gloves, apron and boots). Stress may result from workload and meeting schedules. Must have the ability to support extended business hours to meet customer and business needs.
