    Job Description ASC Group, Inc., is a cultural and natural resources consulting firm headquartered in Columbus, Ohio. We have immediate openings for Archaeology Field Technicians for projects located in Ohio, Indiana, Michigan, and Kentucky, which are ongoing and starting soon. These include a Phase III investigation of a major Fort Ancient village site and Phase I, II investigations of Woodland period sites in the Scioto Valley. Field technicians will be working under the supervision of a Field Supervisor and/or Principal Investigator. The ongoing and future projects should see work through the late summer. The work will involve archaeological excavation (i.e., test units), feature documentation, mapping and profiling, shovel testing, surface survey, and screening for artifacts. Phase III investigations are primarily in heated tents. Minimum requirements include an Associate's degree or Bachelor's degree in Anthropology, Archaeology, or a related field; field school or archaeological field experience (previous work in Cultural Resource Management preferred); good organizational skills; and ability to maintain neat and accurate field notes. Pay starts at $20/hr and is based on experience. Per-diem ($41/day) and lodging is provided for all project work requiring overnight stays away from your home office, and paid sick time accrual is offered. You must provide personal PPE like gloves and boots. Other required PPE will be provided. Our water is received from four primary water sources: Salt River, Verde River, Colorado River and ground water supplied by our extensive well field facilities. Service is provided to the City of Chandler residential, commercial, and industrial users by a network of 1,224 miles of active water mains, 942 miles of active sewer mains, and 92 miles of reclaimed water mains. These assessments are typically 1-2 days in duration with typical team sizes ranging from 2 to 5 depending on the size of the assessment. Work activities will include sorting through solid waste using hand tools to segregate waste items by type for the purpose of assessing various types of waste including plastics, paper, cardboard, glass, food waste and regulated materials. Assisting with the separation of the waste, weighing and inventorying items for the purpose of data analysis and reporting. Work requires the ability to bend and lift 30 pounds or less, willingness to work in Tyvek safety suits, wear required safety equipment, and ability to work on your feet for up to 8 hours. Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities: Sort solid waste into material categories including plastics, paper, cardboard, food waste, regulated waste, etc. Use hand tools to sort waste and ability to lift and move items 30 pounds or less.
