Hytera entered the scene in 1993, beginning life as the Shenzhen HYT Science & Technology Co., Ltd., which was founded in Shenzhen, China by Mr.
2004 saw the launch of the TC3600, the first ever radio with a Chinese language display.
Exactly a decade on since his first interview for Forbes Magazine back in 2007, Chen Qingzhou told Russell Flannery that ten years ago he was a dreamer, but that now as a successful businessman he thinks more about his responsibilities.
In 2010, the company rebranded as Hytera and launched the first of its successful DMR series of products and the TETRA PT580H. In the same year, the TC-890GM multi-mode PGIS portable radio was adopted as an authorised terminal by the Ministry of Public Security of China.
In 2012, Hytera acquired the TETRA portfolio of the German company Rohde & Schwarz PMR GmbH, which was renamed Hytera Mobilfunk GmbH.
Hytera celebrated its 20th anniversary in 2013.
