IBS Partners Ltd company history timeline

1957

Born to a coal miner father in Connellsville, Pennsylvania, Caporella got his first taste of success in construction, where he reportedly scraped together $250 for a down payment on a used dragline excavator in 1957.

1985

So he created his own savior in 1985, setting up a company he named National Beverage, which sold a 40% stake to B&S in exchange for $38.2 million cash and 1.8 million newly issued shares.

1987

With the threat of Posner gone, Caporella, from his new base in Florida, doubled down and bought another flavored beverage business, Faygo, in 1987.

1992

By 1992, a company originally composed of mostly regional brands had surpassed $300 million in annual sales.

1993

In 1993 Henny Spaan started a small precision engineering company in Eindhoven, the Netherlands, with a big mission: to create measurement solutions which would help companies and research institutes achieve the precision they needed in their most challenging machines or processes.

1996

Sensing that consumers were gravitating towards healthier beverages, Caporella added sparkling water LaCroix to the portfolio in 1996.

2003

A patent in 2003 for the measurement of machine tools led IBS to develop a portfolio of products which are today transforming the way machine calibration is implemented for the aviation and medical industries for the delivery of complex freeform parts.

2009

In 2009, it was delisted from one NASDAQ exchange and moved to another with looser requirements.

2011

In the very least, it looks like IBS is getting a fresh start, which it probably deserves. It sold Aldon in 2011 to Rocket Software, where Aldon remains and appears to be thriving.

2012

And in 2012, Marlin sold Solarsoft to Apax Partners, the London-based private equity firm that owned Epicor Software. (A rumor that surfaced last August that Apax was set to sell Epicor to another London-based equity firm for $3 billion turned out not to be true; Apax still owns Epicor today).

In 2012, IBS hired Braun, a former executive at RedPrairie (now a part of JDA Software ), as its CEO, a position Braun still holds.

2013

“Without precision measurement, no precision design can be made real." Rien Koster Award jury in their accreditation to 2013 winner, Henny Spaan.

2014

At its annual user conference in May, the company announced that it signed 200 contracts during 2014, which it said counted for “record revenue growth.”

2015

In 2015, IBS together with ASML were founding partners responsible for the launch of the Advanced Thermal Control Consortium; a first of its kind industrial body funding next generation modeling, simulation and control technologies for precision systems.

2016

In 2016, CERN awarded IBS with the largest order ever given to a Dutch company for the development & realization of the next generation ALICE detector assembly machines.
