Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Responsible for proper operation of sorter by normalizing and checking product to specifications.
Monitor Critical Control Point (CCP) operation, testing, and repair notifications.
Measure and record temperatures and flow of all food additives, as required.
Perform quality and workmanship checks, and work with the Quality Department to check for product defects and ensure product quality standards are being met.
Package product into specific containers as outlined in the specification and apply proper labeling for inventory control.
Move product from location to location using forklift.
Maintain cleanliness in work area, which may require the operator to wear PPE and work with cleaning chemicals and sanitizers.
Perform routine maintenance activities and/or assist maintenance personnel with machinery.
Participate in sanitation activities during area clean-up.
Notify Supervisor or Lead of any unsafe conditions or dangerous behaviors.
All other duties, responsibilities, and projects as assigned or required.
Qualifications/Required Skills
Education and/or Experience: Previous experience working around processing equipment highly desired. Experience with production floor duties, sanitation duties, and machine operation duties. Forklift Certification may be required.
Language Skills: Must have effective oral communication skills to communicate with Supervisor or Lead and fellow employees. Additionally, must have the ability to read and write and accurately complete training and paperwork.
Reasoning Ability: This position requires self-confidence and maturity to make decisions to solve problems with minimal direction.

Work Environment: This position requires occasional heavy lifting, up to 50 lbs. Requires the ability to be physically active and able to work in hot temperatures and around loud noises and dust. Occasionally may be required to work outside facility in a cold and wet environment. Some pushing, pulling, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling may be required. Must be able to stand on concrete floors for extended periods and climb stairs. Must follow all safety precautions while working independently and professionally. Position Validation
Idahoan Foods Validation Program focuses on three core areas: On the Job Training (OJT), Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's), and Validation of Performance. Through this training program, the operator will be given the tools needed to demonstrate an understanding of the essential duties and responsibilities of the position assigned to the operator.
Validating in the operators assigned position demonstrates the operators proficiency in the assigned position.
Operators must validate in at least one of the following processing positions: Flake Drum, Real Line, Pieces Line, Raw Receiving, Fluming, Sorters, Cook Deck (Rupert), and Tote Packing (Rupert).
Operators who are unable to validate in their assigned position must attempt again and pass within one week. The Drum Operator's main function involves running a potato-dehydrating drum. The Drum Operator must always consider product quality and work towards producing a consistent product based on customer and company specifications. Position Duties and Responsibilities:
Responsible for maintaining an adequate and consistent flow of mash. Monitor and adjust the speed of the feed auger and roller adjustments, as well as shoveling product as needed to accomplish this.
Ensure the drum operates efficiently and effectively by keeping plenty of mash on all applicator rolls; work clean mash up and dirty mash down; ensure only clean mash is on the applicator rollers to minimize defects.
Ensure the reduction or elimination of waste / defect / throw-away by adjusting the rolls and maintaining as thick a sheet of mash as possible.
Utilize a bullhide knife to remove bullhides as soon as they are discovered.

The Lab Technician position is primarily responsible for the testing of the physical and chemical properties of in-process manufactured goods as well as finished products, and to compare the results to written specification requirements to ensure compliance with company, regulatory, and customer specifications. May additionally assist in performing research and development (R & D) functions, and the calibration of existing laboratory testing equipment.
Position Duties and Responsibilities:
Conduct routine and non-routine analyses of raw materials, in-process materials, environmental samples, and finished product.
Compile laboratory test data and perform appropriate analyses.
Interpret testing results and compare to established specifications and control limits. Provide in-process information to production personnel in a proactive manner to aid in the manufacture of a consistent, high-quality product.
Immediately report questionable test results; investigate failures and assist in the recommendation of corrective actions.
Segregate conforming product from non-conforming product.
Responsible for all sample requests, including accurately maintain legible records (hand-written, in English) of testing results, logs, or other documentation and record-keeping as required by State or governmental guidance, and Company or customer standards and expectations.
Performs all fats and BHT testing.
Prepare all USDA product(s) for inspection and shipment.
Responsible for Approved Supplier Program.
Responsible for Heavy Metal and Pesticide Testing Program.
Responsible for Calibration Program.
Assist with the maintenance of laboratory equipment by inspecting, calibrating, cleaning, or sterilizing as necessary. (Balance scale calibration each time the scale is moved, or a minimum of once a week).
Provide assistance to production personnel, quality control, quality assurance, food scientists, and sanitation as needed.
Monitor and review information from materials, events, or the environment to detect or assess problems.
Supply quality control data necessary for regulatory and audit submissions.

Education:

High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Analytical Lab Technicians are required to undergo a minimum of an 80 hour training program (in-house). Successful Lab Technicians must demonstrate their competency in performing testing procedures and other laboratory skills. Lab Technicians are only qualified to perform testing procedures that they have been formally trained in. The Quality Assurance Technologist, Supervisor and/or Manager will verify the competency of the Lab Technician on a regularly scheduled basis.
