The primary responsibility of a Production Operator 1 is to ensure that the production process and its equipment are working properly, efficiently, and effectively. This position is responsible for ensuring that the products being produced are quality potato products that are in accordance with the required specifications. This position requires the ability to validate in at least one of the following processing positions: Flake Drum, Real Line, Pieces Line, Raw Receiving, Fluming, Sorters, Cook Deck (Rupert), and Tote Packing (Rupert). Essential Duties & Responsibilities Ability to perform and validate in at least one of the following processing positions: Flake Drum, Real Line, Pieces Line, Raw Receiving, Fluming, Sorters, Cook Deck (Rupert), and Tote Packing (Rupert).Adhere to Idahoan Foods Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP's) and comply with Safe Quality Food (SQF) requirements. Comply with all safety policies, procedures, and programs, including Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO), behavior observations, confined space, hot works, ladder safety, emergency response, chemical safety, Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), fall protection, incident investigations, hearing protection, electrical safety, etc. Ability to read and understand and make changes to HMI control screens. Must notify Supervisor or Lead immediately if product is out of grade. Complete and turn in all required paperwork in a timely manner, and input data into company ERP System, if applicable. Maintain a consistent cook of the product by monitoring the steam pressure, cook time, and dryer temperature settings. Maintain a consistent flow of potato raw material to the drums or dryers by adjusting and monitoring feed augers. Maintain a full and even drum of mashed potatoes by adjusting drum settings and shoveling product when needed. Responsible for a consistent flow of additives by properly mixing and measuring according to product specifications. Responsible for proper operation of sorter by normalizing and checking product to specifications. Monitor Critical Control Point (CCP) operation, testing, and repair notifications. Measure and record temperatures and flow of all food additives, as required. Perform quality and workmanship checks, and work with the Quality Department to check for product defects and ensure product quality standards are being met. Package product into specific containers as outlined in the specification and apply proper labeling for inventory control. Move product from location to location using forklift. Maintain cleanliness in work area, which may require the operator to wear PPE and work with cleaning chemicals and sanitizers. Perform routine maintenance activities and/or assist maintenance personnel with machinery. Participate in sanitation activities during area clean-up. Notify Supervisor or Lead of any unsafe conditions or dangerous behaviors. All other duties, responsibilities, and projects as assigned or required. Qualifications/Required Skills Education and/or Experience: Previous experience working around processing equipment highly desired. Experience with production floor duties, sanitation duties, and machine operation duties. Forklift Certification may be required. Language Skills: Must have effective oral communication skills to communicate with Supervisor or Lead and fellow employees. Additionally, must have the ability to read and write and accurately complete training and paperwork. Reasoning Ability: This position requires self-confidence and maturity to make decisions to solve problems with minimal direction. Other Skills and Abilities: Team player that is flexible and accepting of changes in assignments and accountabilities based on the needs of Operations. Adheres to all safety rules, regulations, and procedures. Other Details Work Environment: This position requires occasional heavy lifting, up to 50 lbs. Requires the ability to be physically active and able to work in hot temperatures and around loud noises and dust. Occasionally may be required to work outside facility in a cold and wet environment. Some pushing, pulling, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling may be required. Must be able to stand on concrete floors for extended periods and climb stairs. Must follow all safety precautions while working independently and professionally. Must be able to utilize cleaning chemicals and sanitizers safely. Occasionally exposed to fumes and airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and outside weather conditions. Position Validation Idahoan Foods Validation Program focuses on three core areas: On the Job Training (OJT), Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's), and Validation of Performance. Through this training program, the operator will be given the tools needed to demonstrate an understanding of the essential duties and responsibilities of the position assigned to the operator. Validating in the operators assigned position demonstrates the operators proficiency in the assigned position. Operators must validate in at least one of the following processing positions: Flake Drum, Real Line, Pieces Line, Raw Receiving, Fluming, Sorters, Cook Deck (Rupert), and Tote Packing (Rupert). Operators who are unable to validate in their assigned position must attempt again and pass within one week. Operators who are unable to validate within the first ten weeks of employment can move to an open position that they qualify for, or if no open position exists, the operator will be exited from the company. The primary responsibility of the Packaging Machine Operator I position is to ensure the proper operation of the packaging equipment/machinery in a safe and efficient manner, keeping food quality and safety as a top priority. This position is responsible for all operations and efficiencies of the packaging line and maximizes operating performance, uptime, waste reduction, quality and productivity. This includes trouble shooting and doing predicative maintenance inspections, and minor repairs. Communicates clearly with other line employees to ensure no errors occur, and the correct materials are utilized as outlined in the Bill of Materials (BOM) on the packaging line. Completes all transactions using the company Enterprise Resource (ERP) System. Assures the proper pallet patterns as well as the codes of primary and secondary containers are correct. Completes all packaging forms accurately and timely. Must be able to function at a high level of performance in any of the general packaging positions including Dumper, Stacker, and/or Packer. Maintains good working communication with other team members and follows direction from the Packaging Lead/Supervisor. This position requires the ability to safely and efficiently operate and validate on one of the three packaging processes. The three packaging processes include Vertical, Horizontal, and Carton packaging lines. Main Responsibilities: Operate packaging machinery including up to two processes: horizontal pouch, horizontal carton, vertical pouch, or robot process. Set up and adjust packaging machines. Monitor and analyze machine operation to detect and urgently correct minor mechanical issues to minimize or prevent downtime. Complete minor machine repairs or adjustments that fall under the operator responsibility. Perform routine maintenance on machines, including clean and inspection tasks. Communicate machine signs or symptoms to maintenance, leads, and other machine operators to prevent or resolve equipment downtime. Work closely with Operator Helpers to ensure the line runs efficiently, materials and supplies are replenished consistently and accurately, and work areas are kept clean and organized to maintain a safe working environment. Operate a forklift as needed to meet the needs of the packaging department. Inspect packaged products to ensure it meets quality standards. Conduct and document regular equipment checks for consistent and accurate quality and food safety production and detection. Troubleshoot and resolve any issues causing a quality defect. Report any quality events or defects to Supervisor. Work with the Sanitation and Quality teams to complete and document line changeovers. Carry out line changeovers from start to finish including, disassembly, cleaning and reassembly of the equipment. Ensure the line and materials for the next production run meet company specifications. Strictly adhere to all Safety & Food Safety/Quality policies and procedures within the packaging department. This involves reporting Safety & Food Safety/Quality incidents to your Supervisor and participating in RCAs. Actively identifying potential Safety & Food Safety/Quality risks and resolving or reporting those risks to your Supervisor. Complete all training assigned by the company before the target due date. Maintain accurate reporting of inventory in the ERP. Compare the current physical inventory against the ERP inventory for accuracy. Submit corrections in the ERP or to your lead. Ensure products consumed on the line meet requirements for accurate and safe consumption of material. Use Microsoft Windows (computer) and Apple (iPad) operating systems to meet responsibilities around reporting, documentation, and communication. Use operations mobile platform to monitor and document overall equipment efficiency and quality datasheets, use ERP to manage material inventory, access product specifications, and other platforms as needed to fulfill responsibilities. Train new employees to complete their training logs, as well as share standard practices for executing responsibilities. Train Operator Helpers working on the line to develop skills necessary to become a Machine Operator and to act as backup during Machine Operator breaks. Qualifications/Required Skills of the Position: Education and/or Experience: Previous experience in packaging operations or similar equipment preferred. Technical Skills: Ability to perform routine maintenance and minor adjustments on machinery. Understand how to troubleshoot a common issue. Position requires accurate completion of the Baler Operator production report, checking bale weight, and recording information on various reports and quality control tags.
