What You Bring -- Competencies Qualifications: Education: Bachelor's Degree from an accredited four-year educational institution Experience: Experience in a Special Education classroom setting with students who have significant disabilities strongly preferred Licenses or Certifications: Valid Texas state certification in Special Education and core content areas Knowledge and Skills: Knowledge of curriculum and instruction Ability to instruct students and manage student behavior Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills Ability to adjust and adapt to a multitude of situations in the school environment Ability to facilitate Admission, Review and Dismissal meetings Strong family engagement and communication Record of results for students who are academically at risk What You'll Do -- Accountabilities Special Education Teacher Responsibilities: Adapt lessons to meet the needs of students Support coordination of related services for students on their caseload Develop Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for a caseload of students Implement IEPs, assess students' performance, and track their progress Update IEPs throughout the school year to reflect students' progress and goals Assess students' skills to determine their needs and to develop teaching plans Collect and analyze student data in order to make effective decisions to maximize achievement Discuss student's progress with parents, teachers, counselors, and administrators Prepare and help students transition from grade to grade and after graduation Implement state learning standards and IDEA curricula and assessments to meet ambitious academic expectations Submit weekly lesson plans two weeks in advance for feedback Implement formal and informal assessments to track each individual student's progress and learning needs, adjust lesson plans accordingly and update gradebook weekly Communicate students' progress with student and family on a weekly basis Effective facilitation and personal use of technology as a communication and educational tool to improve student achievement and manage work related tasks. As the School Psychologist Intern, you will be responsible for demonstrating knowledge and skill in assessment, determining Special Education eligibility, providing academic and behavioral interventions, following state and federal legal frameworks for Special Education, and ensuring compliance with all facets of Special Education. You will help a portfolio of 1-2 campuses, supporting students and parents through problem solving interventions with students who may be struggling both academically and behaviorally. In addition, you will provide students with direct behavioral supports and track student progress towards IEP goals. The School Psychologist reports directly to the regional Lead School Psychologist and works under the supervision of a designated School Psychologist mentor to complete all requirements for School Psychologist certification. This role involves some minor travel between campuses. Location: This is a full-time on-site position located in Austin. Preference will be given to candidates who live in the region, or who are willing to relocate. What You'll Do - Accountabilities Essential Duties Supports the special education teachers in developing appropriate IEP academic, behavioral, and social goals. Ensure IEP services are being provided as indicated in the ARD. Meet 100% compliance in Annual ARDs and ensure all paperwork is submitted in a timely manner. Works in conjunction with Speech Language Pathologists, Occupational Therapists, and other related and Instructional Service Personnel (VI, AI, APE, PT) to ensure completion of all ARD paperwork in a timely manner. Follows correct procedures for maintaining records and services. Ensure all counseling services are tracked Complete counseling service notes per session Be trained in Crisis Prevention and Intervention (CPI) Conduct crisis counseling when necessary Guide the campus in interventions for students who are in emotional and behavioral crisis Critical Student Instruction groups are established and instruction is executed with fidelity at campuses Provide support to 504 campus coordinator with 504 meeting requirements, 504 eligibility determination, Homebound services, and Manifestation Determination. Conduct dyslexia evaluations for 504 students. Guide campuses in tracking and documenting academic and behavioral interventions in TIER I, TIER II, and TIER III. Conducts multidisciplinary evaluations Full and Individual Evaluations for all Non-Speech only students who are referred for 1 or more eligibility categories (out of 11 eligibility categories). Ensures psychological evaluations for Autism and Emotional Disturbance are conducted in accordance with National Association of School Psychologists best practice recommendations. Adhere to most up to date evaluation tools and standards as stipulated in the American Psychological Association Testing Standards Conducts evaluations as needed for student College Board accommodations Helps the campus conduct a Functional Behavioral Assessment. The role of School Counselor leads the campus family engagement vision, social emotional learning program, and coordination of mental health and counseling supports for all scholars on the campus.     Role Mission: IDEA Physical Education teachers instruct students in Academy Grades {PreK-5} and/or College Preparatory Grades {6-12} in all physical education aspects. The physical education program strives to develop students' personal fitness and skill-related abilities. The program reinforces students' understanding and application of fitness concepts and motor skills through a variety of movement forms and activities. All physical education teachers are responsible for ensuring that every IDEA student masters personal and social responsibility, self-directed learning, and the problem-solving skills necessary to succeed in college. IDEA Physical Education teachers set ambitious goals for student achievement and diligently track student data to inform dynamic and effective daily lesson plans. Student class size can vary depending on the grade level/levels assigned and campus schedule model. A typical Physical Education classroom may have a classroom size of 25- 60 students and may potentially have the support of a PE co-teacher. What We Offer Compensation: The starting teacher salary for 0 years of experience is $59,500. This role is eligible for various stipends based on certifications, credentials, and campus leadership ranging from $500-$4,000 each. We also offer opportunities and incentives through our Teacher Career Pathway with the potential to earn up to $10,000 in additional compensation. What You'll Do - Accountabilities Essential Duties: Supports the special education teachers in developing appropriate IEP academic, behavioral, and social goals. Ensure IEP services are being provided as indicated in the ARD. Meet 100% compliance in Annual ARDs and ensure all paperwork is submitted in a timely manner. Works in conjunction with Speech Language Pathologists, Occupational Therapists, and other related and Instructional Service Personnel (VI, AI, APE, PT) to ensure completion of all ARD paperwork in a timely manner. Follows correct procedures for maintaining records and services. Ensure all counseling services are tracked Complete counseling service notes per session Be trained in Crisis Prevention and Intervention (CPI) Conduct crisis counseling when necessary Guide the campus in interventions for students who are in emotional and behavioral crisis Critical Student Instruction groups are established and instruction is executed with fidelity at campuses Provide support to 504 campus coordinator with 504 meeting requirements, 504 eligibility determination, Homebound services, and Manifestation Determination.
