The position of Senior Principal Solutions Architect needs to have experience in satellite ground systems and related networking infrastructure. The candidate should have experience with satellite communications concepts, complex system management, and networking protocols and standards. Prior experience with VSAT waveforms is not required but is highly desirable. The Senior Principal Solutions Architect will be a member of the System Architecture team that is responsible for developing key technologies and platforms that are the basis for future hardware and software products for the company. This is a highly technical position that requires deep theoretical understanding along with the ability to reduce theory to practice in the form of architectural and/or high-level design documents that an engineering team can use to implement functional systems. The candidate is expected to be a subject matter expert in their field and to be a guiding force in the engineering organization.
Responsibilities
Contributing to architectural vision and customer-driven objectives on adoption of next generation terrestrial, cellular, wireless, and satellite waveforms/propagation and their interactions, including for example DVB-S2X
Performing systems engineering and architecture development using new and emerging technologies into the iDirect Government solution sets
Ability to bring together a complex technology set including RF, interference mitigation, networking/routing, network management, monitoring, etc. into a usable solution for a non-satellite expert user community
Producing mathematical simulations of communication channels enabling the study of both channel improvement measures, such as pre-distortion/pre-coding as well as overall satellite communication system efficiency, such as interference mitigation/cancellation, successive interference cancellation, multiuser detection (MUD), and phased array antenna techniques (both space and ground segments)
Leading the design for further advances in adaptive TDMA, SCPC, DAMA, and IoT return channels, including modeling and design of control loops and algorithms for real time embedded system implementation
Participating with standards bodies to ensure proposed standards affecting iDirect are technically sound and aligned with the company's interests
Partnering with customers, business development partners, and the executive management team on innovative advancements to our product line

7+ years of Solution Architecture experience
20+ years of related SW and system solution development experience
Experience with provider level networking systems (cellular, telecom, satellite, etc.)
Demonstrated ability to learn/innovate in the field of software defined radio (SDR) links
Architecting solutions for complex systems employing both high power computing platforms as well as embedded hardware platforms
Experience in architecting or designing software applications based on a micro-services architecture, as well as deployment using containers (Dockers, etc.) and orchestrators (Kubernetes, etc.)
Excellent written and verbal communication skills on technical matters

The Building Design and Construction Division is an award-winning organization responsible for implementing all major building, renovation and major capital renewal projects identified in the Fairfax County Capital Improvement Program, including fire stations, libraries, courts, police stations, office buildings, maintenance facilities, parking structures, human services facilities and other major infrastructure and public-private partnership projects.

The Engineering Tech Supports project management tasks including tracking budgets submissions, processing invoices, project website updates, general support and maintenance of historical databases, project awards program, project records management, assistance with presentation development, management of the Branch's Basic Ordering Agreements, support for permit expediting including management of the permit bond release process.
Duties include but are not limited to:
Assistance to the Assistant Division Directors (Management M-2), Senior Section Managers and Section Managers (Engineer V), and Project Managers (Engineer IV) on small projects or portions of larger projects. Serves as point of contact and takes a lead role for a variety of support functions that are crucial to efficient ongoing operations of the Building Design Branch. Duties include safety coordinator responsible for inventory of safety equipment and ongoing safety training opportunities, maintains staff training and continuing education records, processes the renewal of professional licenses and P-card purchases. In this position, you will:
Provide support and community-based residential services to adults with serious mental illness, co-occurring substance use disorders, and intellectual and developmental disabilities living in Group Home and Supervised Living settings.
Advocate and apply knowledge of person-centered and recovery-oriented treatment models.
Assist and provide skill-building support for Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including personal hygiene, medication management, general supervision, and behavior support.
Provide input for assessing individuals' needs and be responsible for the implementation of individual service plans, documentation, and data collection.
Work to ensure the health, safety, and overall well-being of the individuals served.
Perform other duties as assigned, including assisting in other Residential programs and/or homes.

Minimum Qualifications

Lafayette Group is seeking qualified and team-oriented individuals to work with federal government organizations in support of national cybersecurity programs. Cybersecurity Subject Matter Experts work on projects to enhance national operational readiness, deliver tailored cybersecurity guidance, and inject real-time technical expertise into cyber crisis response, planning, and collaboration efforts. This position works directly with Project Managers and cleared Program Analysts on advanced cyber planning capabilities (e.g., Secure by Design, Security at Scale, Threat Hunting). Subject Matter Experts are involved daily in work like researching and developing recommendations on cybersecurity plans, reports, and presentations, preparing for and leading meetings with senior personnel, conducting assessments, developing and delivering trainings and exercises, and providing technical expertise regarding cyber incident response, cyber threat analysis, cyber defense planning, and cyber risk reduction.

Job Responsibilities:
Work closely with Project Managers and Program Analysts to help clients solve nationally significant cybersecurity challenges.
Collaborate with other team members to develop and deliver high-quality products that meet client requirements on schedule and within budget.
Analyze operational information and perform qualitative and quantitative research and analysis in support of projects to identify key themes and trends from complicated data sets (e.g., analysis during active cyber incidents, dynamic triage of threat information).
Advise on strategic issues including edge device technologies, artificial intelligence (AI), remote monitoring and management (RMM), etc.
Assist with client engagement and support including preparing for and leading meetings, facilitating planning and data gathering sessions, and developing recommendations for plans, documents, and reports to support client needs.
Support the development of written work products within and across areas of responsibility including strategic plans, assessments and reports, presentations, talking points, fact sheets, and white papers.
Build strong relationships with clients and stakeholders; demonstrate that client needs are heard and understood and their feedback valued.
Continue to deepen personal expertise in the field through ongoing engagement and continuous learning.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree
10+ years experience in cybersecurity (e.g., threat detection, analysis, and response, penetration testing, network architecture and defense, SOC operations/monitoring, etc.)
Possession of excellent oral and written communication skills; diplomatic and an excellent listener
Possession of excellent analytical and critical thinking skills with the ability to remain open-minded, flexible and curious in problem-solving approach
Ability to think conceptually and strategically and learn quickly
Ability to manage time effectively to meet deadlines, adhere to project plans, and work on several projects simultaneously
Ability to interact and network effectively with all levels of staff, including senior leadership, both internal and on the client site
Ability to obtain a security clearance
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
Desired Qualifications:
Master's degree
Discipline specific advanced training (e.g., CISSP, CISM, CISA)
Experience with Advanced Persistent Threats (APTs) and detection methods
Experience in threat hunting, cyber intelligence, Red/Blue/Purple Team, or other deeply technical computer science domains
