Job Description
The Sr. Manager of Accounting Services supports and gradually assumes leadership in managing the accounting operations of the International Institute of St. Louis (IISTL) and its affiliates. Over an 18-month training and transition period, this role will develop toward full responsibility for financial reporting, compliance, audit readiness, and team supervision under the guidance of the Sr. Director of Accounting Services. Minimum Education & Experience Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required; CPA or CPA candidate preferred.

Experience supporting audits, budgets, and complex reconciliations.

Help maintain the Chart of Accounts and ensure consistent coding and reporting structures.
Support creation and refinement of financial dashboards, schedules, and reports for leadership and the Board.
Budgeting & Forecasting:
Assist with annual budget development and periodic reforecasting.
Support departmental leaders with budget tracking, expense monitoring, and grant compliance.
Help identify and communicate financial trends, risks, and opportunities.
General Accounting:
Oversee daily accounting functions, including journal entries, reconciliations, and month-end close processes.
Prepare and reconcile bank accounts, PayPal, donor schedules, and petty cash.
Ensure proper documentation and recordkeeping for all transactions.
Review and approve accounting entries prepared by specialists, once trained.
Accounts Payable, Receivable, & Case Management:
Supervise processing of invoices, deposits, and vendor setup in Great Plains.
Approve and monitor Positive Pay uploads and weekly check runs.
Reconcile cash receipts and maintain bank transaction accuracy.
Support continuous improvement of AP/AR systems and workflows.
Payroll & Benefits Accounting:
Work with HR to verify payroll accuracy and ensure timely submission.
Maintain payroll-related accruals for wages, PTO, and benefits.
Reconcile and report payroll data for internal and external compliance.
Audit & Compliance:
Assist in annual audit preparation, including workpapers, schedules, and reconciliations.
Ensure financial activities comply with federal grant guidelines, GAAP, and organizational policies.
Support internal control reviews and implement improvements.
Participate in the preparation of IRS Form 990, 5500 filings, and related reports.
Grant & Contract Accounting:
Collaborate with Grant Managers to review expenditures and track restricted funds.
Prepare or assist in preparing Federal Financial Reports (SF-425) and funder-specific reporting.
Help ensure timely, accurate, and compliant grant spending and documentation.
Leadership Development & Training:
Supervise accounting staff in daily work and provide mentorship under the guidance of the Director.
Participate in leadership meetings, learning organizational strategy and cross-departmental collaboration.
Assist in updating Accounting Policies & Procedures; learn to set departmental goals and metrics.
Engage in professional development in nonprofit finance, GAAP, and grant compliance.

A Common Threads Nutrition Educator is the face of the organization, teaching hands-on cooking classes and nutrition education to PreK-8th grade students, parents, and teachers in schools and academic spaces, and building relationships with partner sites and the community. Nutrition Educators teach classes in both virtual and in-person settings.
All of our programming consists of nutrition lessons, ranging in topic from basic information to targeted health conditions. Each program emphasizes healthy eating habits and healthy cooking methods with affordable nutrient-dense ingredients. Programs may also engage participants in hands-on cooking through the teaching of basic culinary skills and techniques.
This is a part-time variable hour position that will generally work 5-10 hours a week when classes are in session. Evenings and/or weekends may be required.
Responsibilities:
Complete training on Common Threads curriculum, policies and procedures, and administrative responsibilities
Teach children and adults cooking skills and provide nutrition education, virtually and/or in person
Follow the approved course curriculum and lesson plans
Complete all grocery shopping and recipe demonstrations, and submit required documentation as needed
Administer pre- and post-surveys to program participants and manage paperwork
Communicate with Common Threads partner organization staff, as well as with Common Threads staff

Essential Responsibilities 1. Program Management (70%)
Manage and implement all key components of the Food Pantry program and oversee daily operations
