Illini Medical Associates company history timeline

1844

Father Christopher Bernsmeyer, OFM, welcomes young women who look after the sick in their homes without payment. It is here in the village of Telgte, Germany where the Congregation of the Hospital Sisters of the Third Order Regular of St Francis is founded on July 2, 1844.

1875

Arriving in Illinois in 1875, a dedicated group of Sisters built more than hospitals – they constructed a new form of health care.

1878

1878 | The Sisters founded the following hospitals:

1885

1885 | St Joseph’s Hospital, Chippewa Falls, WI, is founded.

1886

1886 | Sisters founded St John’s Hospital School of Nursing, Springfield, IL, on October 4.

1887

1887 | St Mary’s Hospital, Streator, IL, is founded.

1888

1888 | St Vincent Hospital, Green Bay, WI, is founded.

1889

1889 | Sacred Heart Hospital, Eau Claire, WI, is founded.

1890

1890 | St Nicholas Hospital, Sheboygan, WI, is founded.

1959

Medical Arts Associates, Ltd. began as a two physician partnership in 1959.

1962

1962 | Sisters develop a small central staff of specialists in Springfield to support their hospitals.

1963

The group broke ground in August 1963 on a 12,000-square-foot build­ing and agreed on call­ing itself the Glen Ellyn Clin­ic, part­ly in homage to the Mayo Clinic.

1964

The Glen Ellyn Clin­ic opened its doors on Sep­tem­ber 1, 1964, with eight physi­cians, 15 nurs­es and a staff of lab tech­ni­cians and admin­is­tra­tive per­son­nel.

1970

In 1970 the partnership was formally incorporated as Medical Arts Associates, Ltd.

By 1970, the part­ner­ship had grown to 25 physi­cians, while office and lab space was added with a 24,000-square-foot clin­ic expansion.

1973

In 1973, doctors William McCormick and James Gilson joined Medical Arts and developed Cardiology services on both sides of the river.

1974

1974 | Assumed sponsorship of St Mary’s Hospital Medical Center, Green Bay, WI, on July 2.

1975

In 1975, the multi-specialty practice relocated to 4600-3rd Street, Moline.

1978

1978 | Hospital Sisters Health System is incorporated on December 26.

1995

With 50 pri­ma­ry care physi­cians, Mid-Amer­i­ca Health Part­ners had formed in 1995 as a physi­cian-led inde­pen­dent prac­tice group.

1997

Since 1997, the main offices have been in the UnityPoint Campus on 7th Street and John Deere Road, Moline, Illinois.

After Wheaton Med­ical Clin­ic merged with the Glen Ellyn Clin­ic in 1997, Mid-Amer­i­ca joined the fol­low­ing year.

1999

The result was DuPage Med­ical Group formed in 1999.

2000

The 2000’s have been a significant time of growth, bringing expansion and innovation to OUR community.

2002

2002 | Hospital Sisters Mission Outreach, Springfield, IL, is founded on August 20.

2021

DuPage Med­ical Group became Duly Health and Care on Sep­tem­ber 15, 2021.
