Dr. Lance Smith brings a rare combination of business and academic experience to his role as Imagine Software's CEO, with more than 25 years of direct involvement in trading and risk management practices, mathematical modeling, and system development. Before co-founding Imagine in 1993, he began his business career in 1986 as a Salomon Brothers vice president, gaining diverse business experience in mathematical modeling, proprietary trading strategies, structured products, and risk management methodologies. Dr. Smith holds a PhD in mathematics from Duke University, was awarded a postdoctoral research fellowship at the Courant Institute of Mathematical Sciences, and is a former assistant professor of mathematics at Columbia University. Dr. Smith sets Imagine's strategic direction, guides development of cutting-edge analytics, and lends his expertise to sales efforts.

In my current role with the ImagineTeam, I oversee the following departments and programs: Operations, Information Technology, including the cyber and physical security programs, Legal and Compliance, and Learning and Development.

Immediately prior to joining the ImagineTeam, I retired from the FBI after a 21-year career as a Special Agent. I have deep experience and demonstrated success conducting national security investigations and intelligence operations; developing, reengineering, and leading information sharing initiatives; overseeing task force and fusion center operations; managing and growing public-private partnerships; and building collaborative, mutually-beneficial relationships.
