Although the company's zinc recycling segment was operating at only 55 percent of capacity, IMCO's management predicted higher levels of production by hot-dip galvanizers, suppliers of the feedstock, for 1993.
1996: Restructuring into Four Business Segments
In late 1997 the company sold more than 2.6 million shares of common stock in a public offering and modified agreements with lenders to make as much as $200 million available for acquisitions.
1999: General Motors agrees to buy more than $1 billion worth of recycled aluminum, which will be processed by IMCO.
IMCo was founded in 2000, with a focus on consulting and process optimization for trade and industry, combined with the aim of increasing sales and reducing stock losses.
IMCO folded in 2012, but this peculiar, fascinating, quirky little lighter, now coming up to 100 years old, continues to be loved, appreciated and admired.
