Litigation Paralegal
North State Law
Remote immigration paralegal job
This is a Full-Time Position with North State Law
The ONLY areas of law that North State Law practices in are Professional License Defense and Administrative Law
If you want to work in a PL Defense and Admin Law firm, then this is the firm!
If you are interested in paralegal work in another area of law, then this is NOT the firm for you.
Although the areas of law that we practice are very few, these are unique practice areas that will keep you on your toes
We are about the culture at North State Law, and while we work hard for clients, we also understand the need for time off
We also don't yell at staff or put up with a bad working environment
Our focus is to ensure everyone working at North State Law has a positive attitude and understands the importance of teamwork
Client satisfaction and quality results for clients are our #1 priority
While teamwork is essential, autonomy in getting the actual work done is crucial
If there is a question or concern, then those will be answered and addressed
In addition to competitive pay, we offer the following great benefits:
Ability to opt into a matching 401(k) after 12 months of employment with the firm
Health insurance after 6 months of employment with the firm

Compensation:
$25 - $34 hourly plus discretionary quarterly bonus
No Recruiters, please. We will not respond to direct emails or phone calls. If you are interested in the position, please apply only.
Draft motions, petitions, and other documents for filing with a Board, through the Office of Administrative Hearings (OAH), or with the State Court in North Carolina.
While many filings are essentially standard “forms,” we also have motions, proposed orders, and other court documents that allow you to exercise creativity.
Electronically file documents through the Office of Administrative Hearings website (OAH) as well as through the NC State Court.
We also will need to do state court filing by mail, so you'll need to create ‘Letters of Transmittal' (fancy wording for cover letters), print out all the documents needed to be filed, get the attorney assigned to the case to sign the necessary documents and make all copies for the court to send back and copies to send to the opposing attorney. We have detailed procedures for this in the firm's policies and procedures manual.
Draft timeline of events for cases. This is probably THE most important thing to be done in all cases. A timeline of events is a great way for the attorney assigned to the case to refer back to what factually has occurred in the case and to see what has been filed in the case and when. This is very important and will be your responsibility for each case. We have detailed procedures for this in the firm's policies and procedures manual.
Create trial/hearing binders. Critical for litigation.
The trial/hearing binders will have all exhibits for the hearing or trial in them and will include an ‘exhibit list' as well as a cover sheet to go into the clear plastic case on the cover of the binder. We have detailed procedures for this in the firm's policies and procedures manual. You don't have to do anything else in the Procedure for Trial/Hearings, though.
Research for cases. This is critically important and will be a focus of this position.
We need someone who knows how to do legal research and is very good at it.
You'll be helping all attorneys in the firm with research projects, and you'll be responsible for expanding our ‘Legal Resources' database with information about different topics revolving around Administrative Law/Professional License Defense.
