The Cochlear Implant Coordinator (CIC) will partner with providers, clinical teams and various support services to provide excellent customer service while facilitating communication and care for the duration of the patient experience. The CIC will be the patient touch point for scheduling, coordination, communicating with and device upkeep/upgrades all of which can occur outside of the traditional scheduled clinic visit. Cochlear Implant Coordinator Overview
Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Ensure all new Cochlear implant patients are contacted in a timely manner and appropriately scheduled Serve as point of contact for referring providers and audiologists Track, record collect, review, place orders, prepare new patient Evaluations (CIEs) scheduled by Specialty Access Call Center for their initial Audiology EvaluationCommunicate as needed to change or add visits based on record review, i.e, switch to Bone anchored or hearing aid consult, instead of a CIE.Partner with surgical center and clinical teams to facilitate communication around device ordering.Schedule initial appointment across specialty services, procedures, surgeries and post-operative visits Take on non-billable tasks to allow the audiologists to increase billable time:Replacement equipment and prior auth paperwork.Liaison with device vendors for training and patient specific troubleshooting. Partner with internal colleagues (ASC, OR and FV purchasing, IT for software updates and troubleshooting.Administrative tasks stocking patient education, obtaining electronic program maps from other centers, checking in and preparing equipment for audiology visits, fielding all incoming communications and requests related to CI/Bone anchored.Patient relations duties such as meeting with patients/families addressing device or accessory questions that do not require the skill of an audiologist.
