As a SpecialEducationTeacher, you will assist students in their learning needs and guide them through academic and adjustment challenges. You will collaborate with parents, counselors, and administrators to address student issues and develop individualized educational plans, all while maintaining accurate records and ensuring compliance with safety policies.
Our Transitions program is for students placed on center-based home instruction with mental and/or behavioral health challenges. Job Responsibilities:
Deliver engaging instruction in academic subjects using multisensory techniques, repetition, and differentiated strategies to meet diverse student needs.
Establish and communicate clear objectives for lessons, units, and projects aligned with NJ Core Curriculum Content Standards.
Prepare detailed lesson plans and instructional materials on a weekly/monthly basis, demonstrating readiness for assigned classes.
Guide students through academic challenges and personal growth, offering counseling and support for adjustment or enrichment needs.
Foster student confidence and perseverance to prepare them for graduation or reintegration into district schools.
Teach socially appropriate behavior using mindfulness, behavior modification, and positive reinforcement strategies.
Promote personal development skills including goal setting, independence, and self-advocacy.
Observe and assess individual learning styles to tailor instruction and support academic progress.
Follow IEP recommendations and modifications and contribute to IEP meetings with progress reports and evaluations.
Administer and grade assessments, recording results in the school's online student information system.
Maintain a positive and structured classroom environment through effective management techniques.
Collaborate with parents, guardians, counselors, and child study teams to address academic and behavioral concerns.
Supervise and delegate tasks to teacher assistants and volunteers, ensuring instructional support is aligned with student needs.
Participate in professional development, staff meetings, and school-wide events to support the school community.
Uphold district policies, complete administrative duties, and perform other responsibilities as assigned by school leadership.

Basic Qualifications:

General Definition of Work:
The Homebased SpecialEducationTeacher - Adapted Curriculum involves working with students with intellectual disabilities, physical disabilities, and various other educational disabilities. The assignment for this teacher will be to provide homebased instruction based on an adapted curriculum, in a mutually agreed upon location, on a part-time schedule.
Schedule:
Currently seeking teacher(s) for the following student needs:
4 hours/week & 1 hour/week planning: High school student with Multiple Disabilities- Targeting foundational communication, daily living, and engagement skills
6 hours/week & 2 hours/week planning: Elementary school student with Autism- Targeting foundational communication, play, engagement, and self-care skills
Essential Functions:
Teach students content to meet the standards outlined in Virginia's Essentialized Standards of Learning and the Virginia Standards of Learning using research-based curriculum, strategies & materials correlated with other approved learning activities and adjusted to suit each student's needs;
Assist children with multiple disabilities, specific learning disabilities, speech or language impairments, intellectual disabilities, emotional disabilities, multiple disabilities, hearing impairments, orthopedic impairments, visual impairments, autism, combined deafness and blindness, traumatic brain injury and other health impairments;
Implement Individualized Education Plans, as written, for student with disabilities;
Use various teaching methods to promote learning, including intensive individualized instruction and problem-solving assignments;
Ensure appropriate accommodations are available in the learning environment and when a student needs to access the environment, curriculum and assessments;
Develop lesson plans and instructional materials and provide individualized instruction based on the student's IEP;
Translate lesson plans into learning experiences to best utilize the available time for instruction;

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
This professional must possess a strong understanding of the instructional needs of children with significant educational disabilities, as well as a strong understanding of the specialeducation process, and strong organizational skills. The teacher in this role must be a team player, energetic, enthusiastic, patient, and willing to work collaboratively with students ages 2 - 22. Experience teaching students with intellectual disabilities and physical impairments is preferred. Possess a belief that all students can learn and are best served when they are included with their peers to the greatest extent possible. Possess an understanding of the state curriculum standards as they apply to students with intellectual disabilities. Knowledgeable in research-based programs. Demonstrate knowledge in augmentative and alternative communication (AAC), implementing positive behavior plans, and data collection. Possess an understanding of IDEA, and associated timelines. Possess an understanding of the requirements of the Virginia Alternate Assessment Program.
Education and Experience:
Candidates must possess a current Virginia SpecialEducation endorsement in Adapted Curriculum K-12 (preferred) or SpecialEducation General Curriculum K-12. Those with a SpecialEducation General Curriculum endorsement must be willing to consider working toward the Adapted Curriculum endorsement.
Physical Conditions and Nature of Work Contacts:
Daily personal and close contact with students to provide learning environment support and instruction is required. Regular contact with other staff members and parents is required. Occasional contact with medical professionals may be required. Frequent contact with parents by phone and in person is necessary. While performing the duties of this job, the teacher is regularly required to speak and/or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, and stoop, bend at the knees and / or hips, kneel, or crouch. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision and depth perception. The teacher must be able to respond to the unique educational needs of students with disabilities in a stressful setting. This job may emphasize intervention with and management of aggressive and self-abusive students, angry students, emotional students, students with infectious diseases, and personal physical abuse.

JOB DESCRIPTION/OBJECTIVE
Part-Time SpecialEducationTeacher
Hours: during school hours (8am-4pm)
Da Vinci is a multi-functional educational company that provides services designed to support the academic needs of our clients. The role of our Collaborators is to provide the best customized instruction for each of our students while meeting their individualized educational needs and provide the best customized and high quality consulting to each of our teachers, school districts and clients.
Our collaborators are hired on a contractual basis and may be required to travel to different locations. Each Collaborator will be given the opportunity to attend multiple professional development trainings throughout the year. It is required that the Collaborator attends at least 2 elective
Da Vinci trainings per year to supplement the required training that has been determined for previous levels of collaborator.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Direct Service
Prepare daily lesson plans customized for each student
Weekly communication, unless there is an urgent issue, with the Director of Operations and/or Director of Academic Services and/or Gold Collaborator via email or in person (regarding student progress and any concerns)
Quarterly Progress Reports
Session Notes
IEP quarterly progress reports for appropriate students
Track and submit student attendance
Attend CSE's upon request
AIMSWeb/Dibels
Consulting
Annual Consultation Summaries
Create Student Consultation Action Plans
Schedule consults and keep track of contractually approved number of assigned student consults
Attend CSE upon request
Professional Development
Professional Development internal to staff
Assist Gold Collaborator with Staff Development and Training (clinic & district clients)
General Duties and Responsibilities
Committed to lifelong learning and personal development
Attend administrative staff meetings (as needed)
Assist a Gold Collaborator with Fidelity Checks
Parent Conferences
Must attend in person trainings and meetings when mandated
Complete work from home accountability template
Proficient in 2 programs and trained in ALL Da Vinci endorsed programs

SKILLS/CORE COMPETENCIES REQUIRED/PREFERRED
Knowledge and experience with IEP's
Effective interpersonal and communication skills; both written and verbal
Strong organizational skills with attention to detail including preparing all educational plans and materials necessary for each lesson
Excellent customer service skills
Flexible, able to work under pressure and changing priorities
Experienced in Google Programs
Must be available to travel and move about the various schools and in various environments
Able to meet deadlines
EDUCATIONAL/EXPERIENCE - REQUIRED/PREFERRED
Certified SpecialEducationTeacher- required
Masters Degree in Education (or other related degrees)- required
3 Years Teaching Experience- preferred
Experience with multi-sensory language, writing and comprehension programs- preferred
Compensation range would be $40 to $65/hour with the part-time employee benefits listed below.
-Da Vinci will provide up to 40 hours of paid sick time for use per calendar year to
all part-time employees. Sick time accrues at the rate of one hour for every 30
hours worked.
-401-K plan with a company match (eligible after 90 days employment)
-Mileage Reimbursement for travel between work locations.

The TeacherEducation Department is seeking talented per-course instructors for our masters and certificate programs in elementary and secondary education (undergraduate and graduate), literacy education (Reading specialist, Literacy Teacher, ESOL), Kodaly Music Education, Montessori, and Curriculum & Instruction for Social Justice. Courses may be offered in our the Evergreen Campus in Baltimore. Additionally, courses may be offered in face-to-face, hybrid, and fully online formats.
We seek experienced educators with a passion for education who can combine real-world experience with theoretical understandings of the field.

A specialeducationteacher in an online school must be able to successfully work remotely with students and parents by conducting virtual meetings, providing both synchronous and asynchronous specialized online instruction, and communicating with parents and other staff members about specialeducation services. An unconditional commitment to the success of students is necessary. The ability to motivate students in a distance learning environment and the willingness to be flexible and help them become self-disciplined and effective time managers is required. Our specialeducationteachers must be computer literate so they can focus more on student learning than on the tools of instruction. Patience and an aptitude for technical troubleshooting are required. Specialeducationteachers must feel comfortable working in a student-centered setting and utilize effective techniques for this environment. Teachers must have a strong ability to develop relationships and communicate clearly with students and parents.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Valid Oregon Teaching License with SpecialEducation endorsement.
Highly qualified in the content area taught.
Bachelor's Degree from a regionally accredited college or university.
Demonstrated abilities (written and/or oral) to plan classroom instruction around school philosophy, goals and learner outcomes.
Educational training in elementary and/or secondary education.
Knowledge of developmentally appropriate practice strategies.
