What Your Days Will be Like:

POSITION SUMMARY:

Arrive at the Grand Rapids Amazon distribution facility by the required time to receive your van assignment
Attend the beginning of shift stand up meeting discussing problems and issues for the day
Receive your route assignment and the company provided Smartphone/GPS device
Perform a Pre-trip vehicle inspection thoroughly checking the van for damage.
Deliver up to 250+ packages on your route. (Smartphone/GPS device has the complete route pre-determined along with delivery estimates for each delivery)
Possibly help another driver as directed
Return van to station after refueling it for the next day (company will provide a fuel card)
Remove all trash & debris from van
Return Smartphone/GPS scanner device and keys; debrief with manager
Perform post trip inspection noting any required maintenance items

POSITION SUMMARY:

Part-time Description
The Childcare Food Specialist plays a vital dual role in ensuring the smooth operation of the food services within the childcare center. This position is responsible for maintaining a clean, organized, and health-compliant kitchen, managing food inventory and supplies, assisting with meal preparation, and ensuring proper food handling and allergy safety protocols are strictly followed. The Food Specialist collaborates with staff to promote healthy eating habits among children and ensures all meals meet health and safety standards.
In addition to kitchen duties, this role offers flexibility by supporting classroom staff as an Assistant Teacher/Floater when needed, contributing to a positive and nurturing learning environment. The ideal candidate demonstrates attention to detail, organizational skills, and a commitment to child safety and well-being. Must be available Monday - Friday, 8 AM to 2 PM.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Maintain inventory of food and supplies and order more when needed.
Maintain a clean and organized kitchen, adhering to health and safety regulations
Collaborate with staff to promote healthy eating habits among children
Assists with meal prep
Maintain cleanliness of the entire kitchen (appliances, counters, sinks, floors, and storage areas), including washing dishes and kitchen utensils
Safely use kitchen equipment and utensils as needed
Follow all health, safety, and sanitation guidelines
Ensure the safety of all children by following dietary restrictions and allergy protocols
Adhere to proper food safety, food handling, and sanitation procedures ensuring that food is stored and handled properly
Demonstrates flexibility to the daily business need of a childcare center
Assist in classrooms as needed as an Assistant Teacher/Floater
Perform additional duties as assigned to ensure the success of the YMCA and its mission-driven work.
COMPENSATION:
$13.80 - $17.24 ; Part-Time, Non-Exempt (up to 25 hours/week)

Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: High school diploma or equivalent
Experience: 1 year of food service or childcare experience preferred but not required
Proven Expertise: Knowledge of food handling safety protocols. ServSafe certification required within 6 months of start date.
