Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Advocacy: Assists the people we serve to achieve their personal goals as much as possible; works with them to overcome barriers; helps them participate in activities they choose; respects all their personal beliefs, choices, and interests.
Health Maintenance and Safety: Assists in maintain a safe environment for all the people we serve and follows all specialized care plans in accordance with the ISP (Individual Service Plan); provides care and assistance to promote good health and a healthy lifestyle in accordance with the ISP and physician's instructions; assists in recording information regarding health events, conditions, and status; assists in providing First Aid/CPR and seeks emergency medical care whenever required.
Personal Care: In accordance with the ISP, supports our clients as needed with administering personal cares which may include eating, grooming, dressing, bathing, and toileting; assists with mobility including lifting them from seated or lying down positions with the use of adaptive equipment as needed; may assist them with walking and maintaining stability.
Living Skills Development: In accordance with the ISP, provides support by teaching skills that foster independence and community integration. Such skills may include: cooking, money management, household shopping, laundry, personal hygiene, etc.; supports the client in maintaining their home and accessing activities in the community; supports their spiritual enrichment choices; records progress of their skill development and achievements.
Behavioral Development: Serves as a role model and mentor, demonstrating desired behaviors and coaching by using approved techniques and strategies; in accordance with the ISP may use approved physical intervention techniques when necessary to ensure everyone's safety. Must be able to work as part of a team to achieve positive outcomes for the client and programs.
Operational Support: Maintains cleanliness of the program area and/or home by performing housekeeping duties such as cleaning, washing clothes and dishes, maintaining cleanliness of the program vehicle, basic maintenance of the outside house appearance; completes tasks beyond the clients' abilities, follows all policies & procedures for handling money.

To uphold the morale of residents by offering adequate and diversified engagement activities with sufficient supervision for each activity, which may include covering for staff who are unable to come into work due to sickness.
To engage residents who are temporarily afforded room visits only or/and prefer self-directed programs opportunities for engagement.
To assist the Resident Engagement Department and supervise any volunteer services.
To ascertain the meeting of the spiritual needs of the residents by arranging the visit of a Priest, Minister and/or Rabbi as directed by Resident Engagement Specialists.
To assist with community outings to various points of interest which may include shopping, historical places, parks, places of worship.
To organize each resident on his/her birthday and assist with facilitating monthly birthday parties to honor the residents which may include suggesting themes and entertainment.
To facilitate Holidays events throughout the year which may include decorating, parties/other opportunities for community engagement.
To inform all residents of the upcoming activities and keeping a current schedule of events on the bulletin board(s).

What will I do as an Activities Aide for The Wesley Community?
Work with residents on a one-to-one, individualized activity plan and Encourage residents to participate and engage in activity programs.
Keep accurate records of the resident's participation in and response to the activities program. Lead activity programs.

Schedule Calendar committee (For resident input), plan parties, exercise, and provide games/activities for the residents.
Make routine visits to residents and perform assistance with crafts, projects, etc., as necessary.
Assist room bound residents by visiting with them, writing letters, etc. as necessary.
Provide sensory stimulation to residents including one-to-one visitation, music, readings, sensory oils and touch.
Encourage the residents to continue their educational development through continuing education programming etc.
Activities Aide Requirements:
High School Diploma or GED
Coursework in gerontology or Life Enrichment preferred.
Previous experience working in an activity setting or with geriatric populations preferred.

Under the supervision of a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS), Certified Child Life Specialist (CCLS), Licensed Creative Arts Therapist (LCAT), and/or Program Manager, the TRA will:
Assist in planning and delivering individualized and group recreational activities based on patients'/residents' developmental and therapeutic needs.
Support the implementation of care plans for patients and families
Participate in special events, visiting groups, and support donation activities
Evening, weekend and holiday shifts are required per departmental policy.
Schedules are designed to meet the needs of our patients and programs.
Qualifications
Experience working with children is required
Experience in preparing and implementing activities preferred
Education, Licensure, and Certification
High School Diploma Required
Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in child development or closely related field strongly preferred
Physical Requirements

Qualifications

• Direct-Care or other state specific certification required, or willingness to obtain.

Primary Responsibilities
• Directly assist residents with daily tasks, maintaining communication with the Resident Care Director regarding care provision and resident condition changes.
• Aid residents with mobility, utilizing proper techniques and equipment to prevent accidents.
• Make routine resident care rounds to ensure the needs of each resident are being met in accordance with their individualized care plan.
• Assist with lifts, moves, and transport, using proper body mechanics or lifting devices for accident prevention.
• Performs care that maintains each resident's skin integrity to prevent pressure ulcers, skin tears and other damage by changing incontinent residents.
• Document daily care activities in accordance with company policy and regulatory standards.
• Report any resident issues or concerns promptly to the appropriate supervisor.
• Respond promptly and courteously to inquiries from residents, visitors, and staff, adhering to established policies.
• Familiarize oneself with residents' individualized care plans and provide support accordingly.
• Contribute insights to the care planning process by sharing observations of residents' needs and preferences.
• Interact respectfully and effectively with residents, families, visitors, peers, and supervisors to foster a homelike environment.
• Offer physical, emotional, and psychosocial support to residents and their families.
• Adhere to residents' rights, promptly reporting any incidents or evidence of abuse or rights violations.
• Implement safety and infection control procedures, including proper hand hygiene and care techniques to prevent skin damage.
• Maintain a safe working environment through accident prevention and adherence to safety protocols.
• Attend all required training sessions, in-service programs, and staff meetings.
• Maintain regular community with the Resident Care Director.
• Fulfill any other duties as assigned.
Physical/Sensory Requirements
The RCA must be capable of lifting, stooping, carrying, turning, and assisting high-risk residents, as well as operating medication carts. They must also be willing and able to work a flexible schedule, maintaining continuous movement throughout work hours. The ability to lift and/or carry 50 to 75 pounds is necessary. This position carries a medium risk of exposure to COVID-19 due to direct care provision to potentially positive resident.
