The Society of Medical Dental Management Consultants (SMDMC) was formed in 1968 to advance the profession of healthcare consulting, the sharing of management techniques, and the improvement of individual skills.
The Institute of Certified Healthcare Business Consultants was formed in 1975 to establish standards of qualifications and ethics for practice management and financial planning consultants/individuals/firms, who concentrate on serving the business needs of medical and dental offices.
After teaching health systems at Georgia Tech and working in healthcare consulting for five years, Charlie Thomason founded MMA in 1982 . He saw a need for providing unique services to physicians in private practice.
In 1986, Russ Still joined the firm.
Acquired by Paul L. King 1987
After learning the foundation of the business and developing many successful strategies, Paul purchased DoctorsManagement in 1987.
In 1987, Terry Knight joined the firm.
Pete Lyle joined MMA in 1988 as a recent graduate of Georgia Tech.
Larry Geller joined shortly after Pete's return in 1992, and the core of MMA was established.
The National Society of Certified Healthcare Business Consultants (NSCHBC) was founded July 1st, 2006.
2014 Frank Cohen Group joined DoctorsManagement and added their Compliance Risk Analyzer and a business intelligence and data analytics division to thegrowing firm.
