Assists the Assistant Superintendent and/or Superintendent with the planning and implementation of on-site programs and park projects; develops work plans, cost estimates, and material lists for assigned projects; submits requisitions for supplies; ensures projects are in compliance with the budget. Inspects sewer and storm lines; cleans, repairs, and replaces sewer lines as needed; patches potholes; hauls construction material; assists with snow removal and applies salt to sidewalks and roadways. Maintains department vehicles and equipment; performs fluid checks and preventative maintenance as needed. Completes and files maintenance records; maintains equipment service records. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Thorough knowledge of the principles, practices, equipment, tools and materials used in park maintenance and repair work; thorough knowledge of hazards and necessary safety precautions involved in park maintenance work; ability to understand, interpret, explain and apply policies and procedures; ability to deal courteously and effectively with the public; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates, other departments, vendors, and the general public. Education and Experience High School diploma or GED and considerable experience conducting building and grounds repairs and maintenance, working with power and hand tools, or equivalent combination of education and experience. The Maintenance Technician works in close collaboration with the Facilities team to ensure that the building and grounds are safe, secure, in good operating condition, and appear welcoming and attractive. The Maintenance Technician is responsible for ensuring facilities are in good repair and well-maintained by completing timely preventative and routine maintenance, completing assigned work orders, and identifying ongoing maintenance, facility, custodial needs and manages unit punch to ensure units are staged, cleaned and ready for new residents.
