Role Overview:
Incumbents will work primarily outdoors, performing small culvert inspections on structures less than 4' span under state-maintained roads. A Day in the Life:
The essential functions of this roles are as follows:
* Comply with all Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) safety policies and procedures.
* Operate basic highway maintenance/ traffic equipment to maintain, repair and clean highways and rights-of-way.
* Perform winter operations duties including snow and ice removal.
* Perform emergency response activities such as: clean-up, traffic control, bridge closures, lane closures, placement of signs, and erecting barricades.

* Perform a visual and physical inspection of INDOT owned and maintained assets to evaluate maintenance needs and assign condition rating.
* Operate inspection equipment to determine location, condition rating, and operation of small culvert assets.
Bridge Maintenance & Repair Specialist
* Operate basic highway maintenance equipment, specialized bridge repair and inspection equipment for maintenance, repair, and inspection of bridge structures.
* Investigate complaints related to bridges and large culverts and coordinate to ensure follow up action is taken.
Contracts Inspector:
* Perform inspections activities and complete the related paperwork on all maintenance contracts.
Heavy Equipment Operator:
* Operate various types of heavy and specialized equipment to include, but not limited to; Gradall, Backhoes, Dozers, Vactors, Sweepers, SewerJets, Loaders, Skidsteers, Ag-spreaders, Pavers, Rollers, etc.
* Perform maintenance and repair of light and heavy equipment and hand tools (e.g., dump truck, grader, forklift, tractor-trailer, chain saw).
Herbicide:
* Operate, calibrate and set application rates for all the different types of herbicide and pesticide equipment that will be used on a routine basis. Must maintain appropriate record of all application data. .
* Serve as an independent chemical applicator and undertake landscape projects throughout the District.
Shared workforce:
* May support construction project ensuring compliance with contracts and quality of work being performed.
* Perform sampling procedures for different types of materials.
* May perform and/or assist in aggregate testing and other types of testing such as Indiana Test Methods (ITM).

About the Board of Animal Health:
Creating a healthy, disease-free environment for Indiana's 31 million animals is no small feat. BOAH's team of veterinarians and animal health inspectors travel to all corners of the state to investigate possible outbreaks of disease and advise animal owners about disease prevention.
Role Overview:
A Meat Inspector is responsible for assuring the production of safe, unadulterated, properly labeled meat and poultry products produced in their assigned establishment(s) using sound principles of food public health and food safety. The compliance officer investigates violations of food safety, food defense, and other consumer protection statutory and regulatory requirements; controls unsafe or violative products through detentions, civil seizures, and voluntary recalls; and develops cases through surveillance and investigation activity to ensure that appropriate criminal, administrative, and civil sanctions are carried out.
This position will conduct inspections in Southwest Indiana, with a focus on Dubois county.
Salary Statement:
The salary for this position traditionally starts at $42,900.00 but may be commensurate with education or work experience.
A Day in the Life:
The essential functions of this role are as follows:
* Perform antemortem and postmortem (AM & PM) slaughter inspections of livestock and poultry in official meat establishments.
* Inspect, evaluate, and verify establishments comply with humane handling and non-ambulatory animal regulatory requirements.
* Verify meat plants' Sanitation Standard Operating Procedure (SSOP), Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points (HACCP) and pathogen reduction programs comply with regulatory requirements.
* Inspect slaughtering procedure and verify carcasses comply with HACCP zero tolerance and BSE specified risk material [SRM] requirements.
* Properly collect, identify and submit samples for animal disease control programs as prescribed from designated animals presented for slaughter.
* Evaluate and verify meat plants' handling procedures, formulations, and production of meat and poultry products comply with the plant's SSOP and HACCP plans.
* Conduct reinspection of carcasses, meat products (during processing and in storage), and returned product for proper identification or labeling, evidence of mishandling, contamination or adulteration.
* Monitor and evaluate pest control programs.
* Evaluate the acceptability of all chemicals and ingredients used in the processing of meat or meat products.
* Check products for proper labeling and stamping, review and assist in the submission of label applications to central label approval.
* Assist in the training of other inspectors and agency personnel.
* Collect, properly identify, and maintain a chain of custody of samples as required.
* Record activity and interact with the Public Health Inspection Service (PHIS) system.
* Essential functions of this position require travel on most workdays to inspect, audit, examine, survey, or investigate clients, customers, or other regulated entities and write reports at those sites or employee's home. Employee reports to the agency's office for occasional meetings or events. Review work orders against finished trailers to ensure trailers have been built to all specifications on the work order.
Inspect trailers for any physical, mechanical, and visual defects, using a tape measure and other hand tools as needed.
Ensure that all warning decals, logo decals, and VIN tags for trailers have been properly placed in correct areas on all trailers.
Ensure that tire information has been included on all trailers.
Ensure that all departments prior to final inspection have inspected their own work and signed off on all applicable items.
Approve or reject trailer quality as needed so trailers can either be confirmed or repaired.
Complete minor repairs, as needed and able, and follow up with applicable line leads if larger repairs are needed.

If any of the above are missing or needing repairs, schedule these fixes as needed and follow up to ensure proper adjustments are made.

JOB SUMMARY
The Plumbing Inspector shall be appointed by the Mayor per City Ordinance. The authority, power and duties imposed on such Inspector and the provisions of the ordinance shall extend to and include any plumbing or house drainage, private sewer or plumbing work about to be done or being constructed on any premises, and the same for the purposes of the ordinance shall extend over all premises and to the boundary line of the public ways. During their term as Plumbing Inspector, they shall not be actively engaged in the plumbing business nor shall they have a financial interest in any plumbing business.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Ordinance shall be administered by the Plumbing Inspector who shall take such action as may be reasonable and necessary to secure compliance.
Supervise and witness all plumbing pressure tests.
Condemn and order the removal of unsanitary plumbing, and provide notice to Plumbers or owners concerning condemnation and orders of removal.
Condemn and order the correction of poor workmanship.
Provide notice to Plumbers and/or owners concerning correction of poor workmanship.
Inspect and determine code compliance of all new and replacement plumbing.
Leave or give notice of approval or non approval of plumbing installation.

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Oversee the registration of licensed plumbers, Journeymen and Apprentice plumbers.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
The Plumbing Inspector shall be a practical plumber licensed by the State of Indiana who has at least ten (10) years actual experience either as a plumber or as an inspector of plumbing. The Plumbing Inspector shall obtain inspector's certification from a recognized certification agency, within two (2) years of hire.
Must have valid driver's license.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
The inspector should be familiar with current plumbing code and proposed plumbing code changes.
He/she shall be familiar with current methods of plumbing installation, installation practices, and materials.

Role Overview:
The Construction Project Inspector will inspect onsite work and operations completed by contractors which include roads, bridges, and Traffic Signals. They will Measure and calculate quantities as well as testing of materials. Data entry on a daily basis.
Construction Positions:
Candidates who do not have a Construction Certification through INDOT may be hired at a lower minimum salary, starting at $22.00/hr, and will then be eligible for incremental increases as they pass the required annual exams and gain experience in the department.
CDL Positions:
Candidates with a current CDL will earn an additional $1 per hour for this position. Candidates without a CDL will be given 90 days to obtain their CDL, with training provided by INDOT, and will then earn an additional $1 per hour upon successfully obtaining their CDL.
Location:
This position is located in INDOT's LaPorte District, Construction Department.
Salary:
This position traditionally starts at an hourly rate of $24.26 an hour. Salary for this position may be commensurate with education and job experience.
A Day in the Life:
The essential elements of the job duties:
* Comply with all Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) safety policies and procedures.
* Operate basic highway maintenance/ traffic equipment to maintain, repair and clean highways and rights-of-way.
* Ensure staff are completing work assignments as directed and report problems to the supervisors.
* Communicate with contractors to ensure procedures comply with INDOT standards and specifications.
* Perform winter operations duties including snow and ice removal.
* Perform regular inspections and routine equipment maintenance such as: minor repairs, preventative maintenance, refueling, and pre-trip inspections.
* Maintain, repair, and install traffic signs, route markers, pavement markings.
* Perform emergency response activities such as clean-up, traffic control, lane closures, placement of signs and erecting barricades.
* Workday attendance at assigned worksite(s) is an essential function of this position.
These additional duties may be performed depending on the job assignment:
Bridge Maintenance Specialist
* Provide unit crews with technical expertise, oversight, and specialized equipment to ensure work is completed and report problems to the Bridge Maintenance Supervisor.
* Operate basic and intermediate highway maintenance and bridge equipment to maintain, repair and clean bridges, highways, and right-of-ways.
Testing
* Sample and test construction materials according to quality assurance and specification requirements.
* Visit material producers' plants, construction job sites or INDOT facilities to collect material samples for testing.
* Perform various test on materials incorporated into INDOT construction or maintenance contracts.
* Calculate and record the test results in the INDOT reporting system.
Construction
* Involved in planning, design, construction, and rehabilitation of state-owned highways and bridges.
* Perform construction inspection, which include assisting the project supervisor/engineer.
* Ensure construction tests, measurements and inspections are completed and recorded in a timely manner.
* Perform facility maintenance such as repairing and installing brine making and storage systems.
Geotechnical Services
* Maintain qualifications for the required Soil Test procedures.
* Operate and maintain geotechnical laboratory equipment to perform soil & rock testing.
* Prepare and perform advance testing on soils & rock samples such as Resilient Modulus Testing (MR), strength testing (QU & Triaxial), Proctor, Sulfate, Organic Tests etc.

What You'll Need for Success:
This person must have the following requirements to be considered for employment:
* High School Diploma or High School Equivalent (HSE).
* Must possess a valid Class A or Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) or obtain one with the first 90 days of employment.
* Pass and submit to a drug test as a condition of employment.
* Knowledge of federal, state, and local highway guidelines, laws and regulations, principles, and practices for purposes of construction inspection, testing, maintenance, and repair of highway.
* Knowledge of drafting and surveying techniques.
* Ability to independently lead and coordinate the work of a crew in the field.
* Ability to read, interpret and follow technical documents.
* Must be able to endure exposure to inclement weather.
* Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
* Ability to perform physical activities such as lifting, dragging, stooping, standing, and walking for long periods of time.
* Able to perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
May need additional requirements depending on the assigned specialty:
Testing:
* Ability to read, interpret and follow technical documents such as AASHTO, ASTM, INDOT specifications, and Indiana Test Methods (ITM).
* Ability to pass the INDOT Certified Testing Technician program.
Construction
* Ability to pass the INDOT Certified Inspector program.
Geotechnical Services
* Ability to demonstrate proficiency by passing the Office's Proficiency Exams. These exams are: Classification & Atterberg Proficiency Test, Electrochemical Proficiency Test, Strength & Proctor Proficiency Test, Resilient Modulus Proficiency Test.
Supervisory Responsibilities/Direct Reports:
This role may be utilized in a supervisory capacity based on agency needs.
