A Day in the Life:
The essential functions of this role are as follows:

Overview

Overview
Under general supervision, is responsible for supervising a team of examiners working at a small or express Driver Services Center. Overview

About the DNR Jasper-Pulaski State Tree Nursery:
The Jasper-Pulaski Nursery produces and distributes high-quality tree seedling stock to Indiana landowners for conservation plantings. Conservation plantings include lake enhancement, wetlands, filter strips, and other long-term environmental improvements.
Salary Statement:
The hourly wage for seasonal positions varies, starting at $12.25/hour.
A Day in the Life:
The Seasonal Natural Resources Workers perform duties related to the survey, biological monitoring, and/or control of property natural resources. Seasonal Natural Resources Worker positions and their essential functions are as follows:
* Resource Management Techs: Assists with the control of invasive plant species natural area restoration trail maintenance, brush and tree removal, signage, timber marking and/or timber stand improvement based on the property.
* Laborers: Work to maintain and repair property buildings, grounds, and facilities. Laborers perform various duties based on property needs. Possible duties may include landscaping, mowing, firewood processing, structure maintenance, sign creation, trail upkeep, carpentry, and plumbing, based on property needs.
* Clerks: Perform a wide variety of tasks to support property staff. Duties may include inventory, stocking, reporting, budgeting, and assisting with other administrative duties.
* Office Assistants: Answer inquiries about the property and provide quality customer service to the park visitors. This position also assists property management with operations and administrative functions.
* Entomology Workers (Taxonomists): sort through samples of exotic forest or tree pests of specific concern. Survey samples are collected from high risk sites to determine locations of exotic insects and pathogens in Indiana. Samples of concern are processed and forwarded to a certified taxonomist for further identification and classification.
* Forest Worker: Assist in duties related to the survey, biological monitoring, and/or control of forestry resources.
* Nursery Workers: Collect, weigh, test, bail, and grade seedlings for quality and use. This role also packages tree seedlings and fulfills customer orders.
* Forestry Program Interns: Primarily conduct field inspections of forestlands and complete associated reports. Duties may include assisting with forest inventories, timber marking, educational programs, and timber stand improvement.
* Security Officers: Monitor the activities of visitors and report problems to property management or other authorities. Security Officers patrol the property and enforce regulations in a courteous, but firm manner. This role provides security to facilities, construction sites, and logging operations as needed, including late night visits to area prone to vandalism, disturbances, and illegal activities.
* Gate Attendants (Ferdinand State Forest Only): Provide quality customer service at assigned property station. The main responsibilities of this position the collection of revenue from fees and permits, and cash/credit card handling duties.

Role Overview:

This is a DCS Transportation Officer position for the Dependent and Neglect Youth Transport Team in the Statewide Transportation and Logistics division. There are two vacancies available that can potentially sit in any one of the counties listed.

Qualifications
Education and Experience: Education equivalent to graduation for a standard high school and experience equivalent to one year working with children and youth.
Necessary Special Qualifications: Applicants for this class must:

* Possess a valid driver's license prior to and during employment;

Overview
This classification has a considerable workload functioning at the working level performing children's services youth transportation and related work. An employee in this class serves as a transportation officer responsible for transporting youth safely and securely. Additional responsibilities may include addressing inappropriate youth behaviors, searching youth and state-owned vehicles, ensuring the functionality of state-owned vehicles, completing transportation reports, and more. An employee in this class must be able to work independently with minimal supervision on assigned tasks.
Responsibilities
* Transports youth safely and securely in a state-owned vehicle to various locations (i.e., court, medical, etc) and may be responsible for transporting youth statewide or out-of-state by vehicle or commercial aircraft. Uses mechanical restraints (Delinquent Youth Only) during transport and may require driving a secure vehicle.
* Explains to youth appropriate behavior expectations and ensures compliance. Encounters and corrects inappropriate youth behaviors that may involve aggression, trauma, self-harm, unruliness, runaway, etc.
* Performs searches on youth and state-owned vehicles under prescribed techniques/procedures prior to and after any transport to detect contraband or other potentially harmful items. Provides constant supervision of youth unless directed otherwise.
* Inspects assigned state-owned vehicle to ensure the signals, lights, seatbelts, and other safety features function according to state law and takes assigned state-owned vehicles to designated mechanic/service provider for cleaning and maintenance. Inspects car seats, booster seats, and safety seats to ensure they are clean, operational and within service life.
* Completes all required documentation such as transportation reports for all transports. Maintains mileage and maintenance logs according to procedure. Submits required monthly documentation to include mileage and transportation reports.
