A Day in the Life:
Responsibilities include:
* Prepare, conduct, and evaluate training courses for individual and sales tax and with procedural issues.
* Correspond with taxpayers by telephone, in writing, or in person for providing technical tax information, tax law interpretation and procedural information in order to ensure compliance with state and federal laws.
* Provide assistance to taxpayers in person, by phone, or mail by advising, instructing, and furnishing information with respect to taxes collected by the Indiana Department of Revenue (DOR) (sales, withholding, income, county innkeepers, food and beverage, motor corporations, motor fuel and special taxes);
* Audit various Department of Revenue tax returns and contacts taxpayers.
* Compute and issue refunds or delinquency notices.
* Compare state and federal tax returns to ensure accuracy of state return.
* Compute and assess penalty and interest paid on delinquent taxes.
* Establish payment plans for a taxpayer or business.
* Assist lower-level Tax Analysts regarding policy interpretation and procedures.
* Assist supervisor with workload distribution and short-term planning.
* Interpret and apply state and federal tax laws, rules, and regulations in identifying and resolving technical tax problems.
* Collect data or information necessary for the conduct of a public hearing or trial.

General Position Description:
TDOT Engineering Technician 1:
This is the entry level. The employee will work in a training capacity under the direct supervision of a foreman. This position will be expected to work in a team setting to learn the required foundational level skills to perform assigned routine pre-construction, construction, and material duties and to become certified in the work elements required to promote to the TDOT Engineering Technician 2 classification.
TDOT Engineering Technician 2:
This is the intermediate level. The employee will work under general supervision of a foreman. TDOT Engineering Technician 3:

The employee will be expected to work both independently, and in a team-setting, to perform highly complex pre-construction, construction, and material duties. Role Overview:
Your work will be performed within the guidelines established by the Department of Correction and American Correctional Association (ACA) standards. Guidelines are generally applicable, but youmust use judgment in dealing with unpredictable actions or unusual situations. Judgment is also necessary in the development of appropriate lesson plans, and to meet course objectives. The work is broad in scope and involves many variables when dealing with the unique problems of individual students who may be dealing with physical and/or mental disabilities. * Checks for acceptable conformance of lines, grades, dimensions, and material requirements. Performs surveying, staking, plotting and computation of cross-sections. Makes concrete sample cylinders and beams for quality assurance (strength testing). Samples aggregate as well as in place hot mix asphalt and submits samples to the Testing Department and/or the Office of Material Management. Communicates deficiencies to contractor and monitors corrective action
* Completes a variety of daily and other periodic reports such as daily construction diaries, material records, and testing records using the SiteManager or AWP system. Provides input to Project Engineer/Supervisors in order to assist them in dispute resolution and in consideration of change order and extra work requests.

* Assist supervisor in the development and planning of overall program and its role in the functioning of the agency.
* Schedule, prepare, and disseminate all program related training materials.

* Ability to communicate effectively.
* Ability to operate effectively in a group decision-making process.
* Tact in dealing with other agency personnel and the public.
* Specialized knowledge of accounting and budgeting.
* Able to perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.

This role may be utilized in a supervisory capacity based on agency needs.
