About the Department of Biomedical Engineering and Informatics
The Department of Biomedical Engineering and Informatics (BMEI) is home to a dynamic and interdisciplinary group of 20 faculty members and over 300 students across its Health Informatics, Bioinformatics, Biomedical Informatics (BMI), Biomedical Engineering and Health Information Management (HIM) programs. Required Duties
* Teach the SCLA course series - both standard and for Business.

Job Description Indiana University East, Richmond, IN, invites applications one full-time faculty position in Mathematics commencing August 1, 2026. This is a tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor level. Candidates should be “teacher scholars”, demonstrating a strong commitment to excel in teaching and should maintain an active research agenda appropriate for a regional university. Online delivery of programs is an important aspect of IU East's enrollment strategy and preference will be given to candidates with experience in online education. The department's flagship program is the fully online B.S. degree in mathematics, which serves over 300 students worldwide. The department also offers to smaller undergraduate programs in Actuarial Sciences and Applied Statistics, and a graduate certificate in Mathematics, an M.A.T. in Mathematics and an M.S. in Actuarial Sciences, all of which are also fully online. The ideal candidate will be a generalist and will have a strong desire to teach in the online setting, as well as foster a sense of community and engagement with mathematics majors in our online program, possibly to include undergraduate research. Teaching assignments will be selected based on the successful candidate's strengths and academic preparation, to include Calculus, Linear Algebra, and other courses at the junior and senior level in mathematics. While online teaching is an essential aspect of our programs, regular presence on campus is important to our mission, and is therefore expected. Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities All faculty are expected to perform duties in teaching and service. These include: Teach and develop courses across mathematics, particularly for the online programs in the mathematical sciences. However, teaching assignments may also be face-to-face, and may include service courses (statistics, finite mathematics) or other lower- level courses, depending on interest, qualifications, and departmental needs. Develop classes for online delivery and aid in the expansion of the Mathematics online degree program and/or coordinate programming at the introductory level to improve course completion rates. Communicate subject matter clearly, correctly and effectively. Use methods, materials, and technology appropriate to the subject matter. Manage the learning environment through accurate record-keeping, timely submission of grades and other reports, and enforcement of school and campus academic policies. Collect assessment data and participate in departmental strategies to improve the program. Advance the school and campus mission through service, such as advising, curriculum design, and participation in faculty governance. In addition to the duties above, tenure-track faculty also maintain an active research agenda, which may include the scholarship of teaching and learning.
