8W Peds ICU offers countless opportunities to gain expertise in pulmonary through a supportive environment with a highly engaged staff. 8 West is a 24-bed pulmonary unit that cares for patients diagnosed with cystic fibrosis, bronchiolitis, asthma, pneumonia, obstructive sleep apnea, and respiratory distress. Patients vary in acuity from acute to progressive care. The pulmonary multidisciplinary team consists of a fantastic group of nurses, physicians, case managers, social workers, patient care assistants, unit secretaries, and respiratory therapists. The Adult Intensive Care Unit (AICU) is a mixed specialty unit with a variety of surgical, medical, and cardiac critically ill patients.
The nurses on this unit create, nurture, and sustain a healthy work environment with a focus on the patient. Our staff members take ownership of decisions in which top quality outcomes are achieved.
On this 12-bed unit, nurses primarily care for respiratory failure, ARDS, sepsis, and shock, DKA, heart failure, renal failure, complex vascular ENT surgeries, high risk surgical cases, STEMIs, and strokes. As a Registered Nurse you will work in collaboration with both our intensivists and hospitalist team, PT/OT, case management, patient/family liaison, and multiple other disciplines to ensure our patients are receiving excellent care.

The Postpartum unit functions within Perinatal & Pediatric Services at Bloomington Hospital. This unit contains 24 private rooms and our nurse-to-patient ratio averages 1:3 couplets depending on acuity. We also care for low-risk antepartum patients.
