1968

Also, IU Southeast granted its first degrees in 1968.

The Indiana University Jeffersonville Extension Center was renamed Indiana University Southeast during 1968.

1970

Local business leaders of New Albany began secret talks to have IU Southeast relocate to New Albany in the early 1970’s.

1973

IU Southeast moved to its current 177-acre (0.72 km) campus in New Albany, Indiana, during 1973.

1975

The women's athletic programs became the IU–Southeast's first accredited athletic program when they became affiliated with the AIAW (Association of Intercollegiate Athletics for Women) in 1975-76.

1995

They directed that all affiliated institutions develop an effective institutional assessment plan by June 1995.

1997

The Institute for Learning and Teaching Excellence was founded in 1997 through a Strategic Directions grant initiative.

The Office of Institutional Effectiveness, formerly the Office of Institutional Research and Assessment, was established at IU Southeast in 1997, with the appointment of a part-time director.

1998

As part of the Strategic Goals of Indiana University Southeast, the Applied Research and Education Center (AREC) was proposed in January, 1998, and established in July, 1998.

2000

In January, 2000, John Newman was named director and served for 12 years.

2002

A full-time programmer/analyst was added to the office in 2002 to assist with data management and reporting.

However, the evaluation team expressed strong concerns about assessment of student academic achievement and general education and recommended a focused visit in 2002-03.

2003

Academic Assessment was added to the office responsibilities in 2003 with the addition of a full-time Assessment and Research Specialist.

2005

When the current IU Southeast library was constructed in 2005, the ILTE was invited to move to the newest building on campus.

A few years later (2005) the campus decided that the director position required full-time staffing.

2008

The buildings opened for the fall 2008 semester and now house more than 400 students.

2009

IU Southeast’s current assessment system received positive feedback in the campus’s most recent HLC review in 2009-10.

2012

In January, 2012, Doctor Melissa Fry assumed the role of director.

2015

In December 2015, Indiana University Southeast received a generous $700,000 gift to the School of Business by Judge Carlton and Sue Sanders to create The Judge Carlton and Sue Sanders Professional Sales Center.

In 2015, a full-time director was hired along with a full-time administrative and technical assistant.

2020

In 2020, the Academic Media Production Space opened.

2022

IU Southeast announces spring 2022 Chancellor’s and Dean’s lists
